Do Not Remove Race Class Restrictions

Sadly, yes. It’s the reason I don’t play PNP RPGs anymore.

Yeah unfortunately I see it the same way. Arguing with the all races/all classes crowd is routinely unproductive because the way they see it is this:

If an option exists I should not only be able to play it but also combine it with every other option on the table. I want to play a Lawful Good Druid/Paladin/Anti-Paladin multi-class character because look at what I wrote in my TRP bio!

You get that one problem guy that just insists on turning your entire story upside down because “Me want.”

I’m gonna ignore your chat gpt post and just say remove all race class restrictions, the lore doesn’t matter only gameplay matters.

All 3 of those classes are entirely learnable for any race.

Where are my panda paladins then? I want my Pandaladin.

And how does this affect you? You aren’t required to acknowledge every players race/class combination. Our characters don’t have to be cut and dry examples of their race.

Blizzard doesn’t have to even acknowledge that racial cultures are embracing the weird combinations. We don’t need a circle of gnome druids in stormwind just to let people play them. There doesn’t have to be a forsaken shaman representative for somebody to decide that they want to play a “Rot shaman” fantasy or whatever.

Nobody is turning your WoW story upside down because they want to play a gnome druid or forsaken paladin. We are all just the generic “hero” in our own story, we play with other people for game mechanics, not for story mechanics, it’s not a collective story we are all playing different roles in.

Blizzard dragging their feet in the model work. No lore prevents that existing, we have examples of paladins of non-paladin-playable races already

Says who? If this was true they’d be more keen on for alling them but instead they backtracked and not only said they want the lore to make sense but that it would be racial expanded not for all.

This is off topic but I love your name btw!

The fact that all of those are learned skills. The oldest human and dwarf paladins were priests trained in military warfare, priests are well-established in every playable race. Druidic magic was practiced by Gilnean&Kul Tiran humans and undead Night Elves, expanded from Tauren to the Darkspear trolls, goblin shamanism showcases one doesn’t need some inherent reverence to make deals with the elementals and there were many primalists outside of normal shaman races.

They clearly haven’t though because if they had we’d have Dracthyr and Earthen Death Knights and Dracthyr Monks but we don’t because they even backtracked on for all on those classes after they had been for all so again says who outside of you and everyone else wanting them? I mean Ion went on the record saying about it requiring the lore to make sense and that certain race/class combos would never make sense so.

Death Knights are not Druids, Shaman, or Paladins. I’ve not made any claim there. Hero classes all have actual lore established which limits them. Theoretically new Demon Hunters might be possible, though they’d fall outside the Illidari and exist through different processes. Death Knights and Evokers as they exist in lore cannot be expanded beyond their current races as there isn’t a Lich King to raise them, nor do other races possess the Dracthyr biology inherent to Evokers.

Lorewise, Dracthyr have nothing preventing them being monks. They don’t have the Dracthyr form skeleton rigged for the monk animation kit, probably because of the wings.

The lore influences gameplay. Which is why we have restrictions in the first place.

Lore should never get in the way of gameplay. gameplay is all that matters, the story is just there. Get rid of all restrictions.

The lore has no restrictions on Monk, Druid, Shaman, or Paladin though.

Druids, Shamans and Paladins have very specific lore just like Death Knights and my whole point is you and a lot of other people seem to go on the original premise that they are going to do for all for Paladins, Druids and Shamans despite the fact Ion went on the record and said that wasn’t going to happen so unless he’s no longer game director/vice president what he says goes.

Ion’s backpeddled many times after sticking his foot in his mouth. As for that “very specific lore” preventing its expansion, what is it? Because, there’s nothing shown in the lore that prevents anyone from learning those skills unless you intend to actually call out something specific.

I respect your opinion here. I just don’t agree with it.

Unless it happens or is said is what I’m going off of, there were times when Paladins, Druids or Shamans could have been added last xpac and they weren’t and haven’t been so sorry not sorry but you expect too much and that’s why you get let down.

So, as I expected, your “very specific lore” is nonexistent.

Here’s an easy solution for you for when Blizz gets around to opening those up too: Don’t play one.
