Do not remove pets from MM hunter (Megathread)

I think they should keep pet as an option if not they could also keep pets as an option.

Because what you see as an improvement I see as an erosion of the gameā€™s roots and class fantasy, sacrificed on the altar of the DPS race (because they seem unable to figure out the math to keep these things ā€œviableā€).

and to other people this change is even better for class fantasy. the gameā€™s roots is meaningless, you can go play classic right now if you want homogeny

It isnā€™t, because it removes the fantasy of not wanting a pet and wanting their own pet

If you wanted a eagle, you could just tame it

You can talk crap about gameplay, but dont try to force fantasy on it

Imagine trying to say the root of a MMORPG is meaningless

while posting on a classic character

Trully ironic

Oh for crying out loud this thread is still going? At this rate the Hunter community is going to become worse than the Pally community when the Priest Tier set for Aberrus was unveiled.

And you want spoilers? it will continue until they revert the idiotic decision to remove the option to summon their pet

Going directly against player choice is never good for class fantasy. Each race has a favoured animal for their hunters: Dwarves - Bears, BElves - Dragonhawks, Draenei - Moths, Humans - Wolves, etc.

Why does only the Kulā€™Tiran and Highmountain Taruen preferences get depicted by default?

Furthermore, mandating a pet means people who want no pets are equally bothered as those who want their pet. Youā€™ve eliminated class fantasy entirely.

according to who? starting pets donā€™t really mean much.

? Hawks?

Itā€™s not a pet at all.

Removing pets is a terrible idea. If you canā€™t balance lonewolf, than get rid of lonewolf and buff AOE damage by 10%.

Blizzard. And if they donā€™t mean much, why does every race start with a different one, or any at all?

Yes, the default starter pet for both is a bird of prey.

Yes, it is. Both in being an actual NPC in the game, and how it was described by Blizzard.

Just play the cobra shot bm spec without kill command which is basically just MM minus rapid fire. Let people live out the fantasy of a dark ranger with a really cool animated raven/crow or eagle (which they said they wanted to add).

 gO pLaY bM hUntEr

You already can do that, by picking MM+Dar ranger and taming a crow

If you mean with out using it, that is possible, but Kill Command is the FIRST talent on the BM tree, so unless that is changed in the patch, we have to take KC to get any other talents in the BM tree, even those that might be shot based and that includes Cobra Shot and Barbed shot.

The animations are completely different from the new pet from its idle position to its attacks, everything just fits with the long ranger sniper.

Kind of like back in Legion where they removed bows and guns from Surv (not going to get into that one because I think even Melee Surv has been done dirty by the devs) and people went itā€™s just one spec .

Thatā€™s like saying hey youā€™re enhance shaman you donā€™t need a self heal so we are taking healing healing stream toatem and chain heal away from you .

If you want a self heal you can play Resto or Elememtal . Itā€™s only one spec.

This is completely different from the scenario you said above, it would be more in kin of elemental not being able to duel wield so go play enhance, which WAS ACTUALLY DONE.

Most people who say they want their pet for mm only want it because of the feels no the spec of MM so these people can just play BM and itll be the same. Even survival makes me love my pet so much more because im always close and we are both protecting each other so that is always an option aswell.

No a better direction would of been to just remove lust from pets period and made a class button for lust for all 3 spec then leaving the othere pet abilities there along with allowing MM hunters that like a pet for open world the ability to do so .

All I can say is my repair bills are much higher in the ptr without a pet then they are in the regular game with one . Maybe that is a bigger reason for the change to get us to spend more gold in game .

No itā€™s not . I use my pet in open world content not instanced content . I know better and if I do use one it is because A: The tanks asks me to do so for a lust or B: Tank dies and I bring it out to tank until the actual tank runs back or is battle rezzed .

I constant

Steady shot can be used in bm cobra shot does the se same as aimed shot and barbed shot is used the same as arcane shot (you could also use arcane shot if you want) with a pet I was doing similar damage using basically the same abilities.

Why should we have to change specs just to have a pet . A lot of us 9 years ago had to change specs just to keep using bows and guns , why should we have to change specs again just to keep a pet?

When are the devs going to do the major design changes like they do to hunter to other pure dps classes like rogues , mages and warlocks?

Since Legion it feels like the devs are taking a crap on the hunters one spec at a time (well in Surv case itā€™s been constant since turning them into melee in Legion ) and right now MM is up to the plate. Maybe in 9 years it will be BMs turn for the devs to do a bm on them and screw them up . Maybe they will take away all their shots and make all the spells about being pet damage only and the BM just spams "Sic em " and watches only as a spectator a a dog fight .
