The gold standard for Classic is TBC raiding. The hardest things in the game were doable with average players. Having exceptional raiders made things a breeze.
This is the best balance.

Your point was dumb.
Removing 1 of the incentives to play will make people not do the harder thing.
I could take a short cut home and save 20m or i could just go the long way to get home and waste 20m…
Its just a dumb argument.
You have to acknowledge that many wouldn’t enjoy a game where the best rewards are handed over too easily. The problem is if ‘ego’ is an abomination to be despised on, why would people care about gear quality anyway? How does having a gear that isn’t as good as someone else wearing being a problem to casual players?
Like I said I play some retail as well and I would never expect LFR or story mode to give me mythic loot, nor do I care if mythic raiders have better gear than me.
There is a balance to be had, needing 25 exceptional players in the best gear to even sniff heroic Rag is not it.
I have no ego in this.
Their stance just makes no sense to me.
Normal is there i just dont get why they dont do it.
Your argument screams “i clear week 1” which is fine, my guild doesnt.
My guild will get gear over a few weeks and eventually kill heroic Rag.
Prog raiding who would of thunk it, almost like how it was designed?
Running the raid with 20 people instead of 25 is there to make things harder I don’t understand why they don’t just do it.
Thats a cop out argument and you know it.
Nah it’s just as ignorant as anyone suggesting normal mode as a valid option.
No one needs to suggest it, its LITERALLY why it was made.
Heroic mode was LITERALLY made to be a harder version of the same raid, an optional version if you will.
If normal was still this easy and gave the same loot I wouldnt even be playing this game, id be searching for something more difficult to do or try retail again if i couldnt find a functional mmo with decent raiding. Probably would go to ff14 ultimates and savage if i got tired quickly of the casino in retail.
Imagine if the raids were set to WOTLK Naxx difficulty.
Lmao.
Whats even the point?
Yeah, this was never a real suggestion. Was just proving a point.
My problem isn’t with a “harder” difficulty. It’s with the fact that keeping the difficulty that hard for the entire phase is destructive to the health of the game.
In my perfect world, heroic is about as hard as tbc tier 5&6.
Are you going to be saying the same thing about Mythic raiding if we get to WOD?
No. At that point the destructive retail raid design has entered the game and I will be gone. The final shred of classic integrity will have disintegrated
Agreed.
I do like how Blizzard listened though.
…to the minority of people on the PTR.
I mean we typically agree on a lot of things ( im Drinknblink) but yeah i just dont agree here.
Heroic is tuned, infact we are stronger for the most part since its the last class balancing patch. It was tuned over 10 years ago when this stuff was current, infact we are still getting an easier version than they had 10+ years ago.
I mean, if the best gear is really what most players should and would only care about. Bliz might as well just completely remove all different item levels since all inferior gears are pointless.
They are not buffing firelands, they are reverting nerfs. And by no means heroic rag is available to only the “best players with best gear”. I would assume your guild will kill him in first week with 372 gear which is from a previous patch.
Thats whats funny is my guild WONT kill it week 1.
We are literally a prog type of guild.
But thats what is fun about harder modes.
i mean if they unified in 1 difficulty i can see this happening, blizz adding multiple difficultys and raid sizes makes difficulty scaling harshly easy or harshly difficult. One difficulty with easy to very hard bosses within a raid would be the ideal scaling that the game returns to. And also having one near insane difficulty boss near the end of the xpac to cap it off. Would be the perfect return to form for an mmo.
