Regardless of whether the rumor has any inkling of truth to it, banning boosting communities will be absolutely terrible for the game and players who depend on the services.
Nobody is against ensuring all RMT services are kicked to the curb, but communities that only deal in gold have been playing by the rules and offer invaluable services for many of us.
You want your dead game to die even more? Banning boosting communities is how you do it. Many of us are only sticking around in this abysmal content drought that Blizzard created (AGAIN!) to make gold and buy or save for boosts. If you think M+/raid participation is already in the dumps, wait until boosting communities are kicked to the curb.
Is the main problem trade spam chat? Then do something about the chat itself. I’m so sick and tired of Blizzard taking a sledgehammer to every single problem that they feel exists in this game and ruining player experience in the end, so if the rumors end up true, then expect more to leave.
How about you be both open and informative as to how you want your players to play your game?
Maybe if you do that upon us, as individuals, signing up for a subscription, will be better informed and able to decide for ourselves if we’re going to dive in or not!
Some idiot wrote a “leak” on discord and now people think that boosting is going to be banned and if you participate in it, you’ll be personally taken to Bobby K’s blacksite.
Boosts bought with gold tokens line Blizzard’s pocket because apparently at least five bucks go into the till for them for each token sold.
So, yeah, as the sub’s just keep going down, Bobby and Co. are lining their pockets with token sales that are driven by the boost and other gold token buying community sections.
The issue here is that if they do in face do this, the in-game player count will only keep going down. The apparent lack of full transparency if this is going to go into the EULA is yet another boneheaded move if they fail to make this blatantly clear.
More sub’s will be lost likely due to how poorly Blizzard’s PR skills are to date.
tokens being used to buy carries is mainly bypassing players earning their gear, clears, and the skills and experience needed to repeat the process to fully gear.
That boosts and carries are allowed is not healthy as far as actual game design and content intent is concerned.
Basically, why earn your gear, etc., when you can just buy a token and use the gold to pay for a carry clear?
THAT’s the issue. Blizzard not doing their PR requirements to actively and blatantly inform the players is the sad truth to me that this might be a true rumor claim.
The intended way the game is to be experienced is to play for oneself, earn one’s own gear, acquire the skills, experience, talents, and tricks needed to clear offered in game content on one’s own and without being cheapened by the user nor any in game advantages.
How is boosting NOT bypassing the intended experience, the paid for game?
