Do gms still message you in game?

I was just wondering because I used to hear stories about gms whispering you but I don’t hear about them as much anymore.

Been hell of a long time since I heard of a GM messaging in game.

nowadays they mostly send me emails…

Most of the time it’s a blatantly fake GM message that players still fall for, and then complain about.

my favorite are when I get a ticket response pop up that says “Sorry I couldn’t reach you in-game” when I’ve been in game for the last few hours.

I remember the last time it was all the way back in mists of Pandaria! It’s was cool, it got all misty and blue and the gm started chatting to you like they were a part of your adventure to not ruin your immersion.

I haven’t talked to a GM since Legion, I believe. Now it’s just “Read this ticket I just wrote back to you”.

God forbid Blizzard actually have genuine human contact with you and actually care about your issue.

But…I can also understand why they aren’t hands-on anymore, is probably because the amount of complaints they get that are so trivial and minor. I blame the player base, they’re the reason we can’t have nice things or human to human interaction with the GMs anymore.

last time i got a gm was sometime in legion when i was doing the twilight highland quest intro and got stuck on the airship and it wouldnt move or anything, a gm messed me in game, told me to logoff for 10 minutes and then when i lgoged back in they had me past the bugged area and i could move no

Been since wotlk for me, late one night we were running a Nax and a GM was standing outside, we asked them if they wanted to join the group… they said “sure” and ran it with us, … I haven’t even seen a GM just floating around in game anymore… some think that’s why these systems, because they don’t actually play the game anymore… Imagine how cool it would have been to have GM’s standing in the Maw or outside Torghast, asking to run it with people and find out why it wasn’t liked… that would be fun…

Would be nice if they still could. But if they did ticket times would go from what it is now to more then triple or even more on wait times.

They’ll contact you through a popup window with blue text.

Never through whispers.

GMs don’t have time to message they are all far too bussy looking for any paintings that still need to be turned in to fruit bowls.

When I was playing EQ, my guild got to test some raids in Beta with a couple of GMS. It was fun watching him manipulate the raid to try different things.

Like A super hero, able to “stop time” LOL.

Also I remember a GM event where the GMS played mobs and attacked A couple of the main cities.

Very very very rarely, if at all anymore. For the most part they don’t need to. If they need to talk they reply back to your ticket and tell you to open a Live Chat ticket.

Of course, right now they are completely swamped with ticket queues running about a week.

Yeah they need to stop doing that. It is misleading. They were not trying to reach people in game. That template needs amending, in my opinion.

Last time I had a chat with a GM in game was WoD and it was oddly, about a forum issue with a game license.

They did that at the end of the Open Vanilla Beta and again I think at the end another test years later. I don’t remember which one though. I think it was before Cata and there whale sharks attacking SW.

GMs are not part of the art team. Further, that was changed after they asked staff about issues they had and apparently it was a painting of a staff member or something. It looked odd from the outside, but if the staff who were mistreated wanted it changed then it seems like a good thing to do.

Many years ago, I was cruising across the sands in Tanaris outside of Gadgetzan on a lower level alt when I saw someone on a bear mount near an outcropping of rock.

As I went by, I noticed the Blizzard banner on them and thought it might be a GM.

I stopped and said"Hello" in chat and they promptly replied back with the same greeting, and sure enough, it was in blue text, so definitely a GM or maybe a dev, didn’t recognize the name and don’t remember it now.

And then I continued on my way.

Not sure what they were doing out there all alone in the middle of nowhere.

Haven’t seen or spoken to a GM in game since.

/moo :cow:

Last time a GM whispered me was in Legion due to a ticket I submitted about the bugged paladin order hall hidden artifact that required a drop off Neferian. After a short conversation, they just mailed the item to me.

Yes!!! Awesome

Yes, I do receive ingame messages from GM’s quite often as I always have transaction issues with sub or ingame shop services because I don’t live in NA.

Heck, I wrote a ticket a few months ago because I had a hard time navigating the online shop to buy 1 month game time (not subscription) and they called me on my phone & guided me through the whole process!
