Do devs not realize button bloat is a terrible design?

Passives are to make active abilities better .

You completely misunderstood what my issue with passives was.

I don’t think 1-3% extra crit for a passive talent point is more interesting or engaging than an active that modifies how you play. I could care less about throughput, but surely even an elitist like you understands that passive abilities can be interesting and passive right?

I know my limitations, I’m not trying to push into content that I’m not skilled enough for, and I don’t really want to either. I just want a variety in gameplay that doesn’t add 1815341 steps or buttons to my rotation.

Your thread is bad, and you should feel bad.

So what you are saying is passives are the game playing the class and actives are you, playing your class.

MORE abilities PLEASE. Who wants to actually play a game where the game is doing more for you than you can do yourself?!? lol…stop.

Forums: “OMG TOO MANY BUTTONS”
Devs: “We’ll remove them” prunes abilities
Forums: “OMG WHY’D YOU PRUNE MY ABILITIES?”
Devs: “Okay we’ll unprune them”
Forums: OMG TOO MANY BUTTONS"
Devs: “…”

So if Blizzard adds 20 buttons, 100% of the players are gone and the game shuts down?

I actually really enjoyed BfA’s class design, and profoundly so.
I think the FFXIV 24-button DPS rotation & 3 utility abilities is NOT the right direction for WoW to go either…
We just need fewer, more combinable, meaningful abilities, with SELECTION via talents. Honestly that would be superior to GW2’s system, because it would still have more restriction and maintain class identity, all while allowing for far more variety and interest within spec performance. Modernize WoW but keep its identity to win us over.

I feel like it is, the forums have lately been on this “omg button bloat” kick.

Except Frost Mage

Frostbolt Frostbolt Frostbolt

rip frostbolt.

No one does which is why it doesn’t exist in the game, and this is just you hating on people who are better at the game than you and making strawman arguments - like the rest of GD’s insane beliefs and ideas about what “elitism” means

Vanilla = “Classic” (as in ‘no expansions’, not literally WoW Classic)
Wrath = Wrath of the Lich King, these aren’t the same, IIRC Wrath’s ice cream definition was chocolate and not vanilla

Congratulations - you managed to be a mage during Molten Core whose sole job was to not run out of mana and cast Frostbolt
Most folks manage to be more competent than that now’a’days, but it does explain your irrational hatred for people who are better than you if this is what you consider a “rotation”

You mean like this wholesome streamer who do 20+ keys and Mythic raiding?
Somehow I don’t think the idea of “But think of the grandmas!” quite work when Wowgrandma is an actual person

The core of all rotations are roughly 5-6 buttons but then have additional utilities and edge cases that expand on it - you want a more simple rotation? Then use one, but going “think of the grandmas” in order to excuse personal ineptitude isn’t a great argument

Thank you lord that WoW is not going back to the dark ages of gaming aka the Great Pruning.

Yes it is, these threads are getting as trollish as the T Squad.

you just need to ignore players on here talking through their other end like that DK. the dude has 0 raid progression, ooppps wait 2/9 raid finder. not to mention any other raid achievement prior to that from any other xpac. his comment and opinion are irrelevant to the topic. he dont have a problem with his rotation or button bloat because he clicks the 1 button he probably got on his bar not even knowing he has many others in the spellbook tab.

We just got done screaming at Blizzard that there wasn’t enough abilities for us and now we’re pulling a 180 and saying there is too many now? At this stage, the WoW community is like Blizzard’s crazy spouse that can’t make up its mind.

That’s not how math works

Start at 100
-20%
80
-20%
64
-20%
51.2
-20%
40.96
-20%
32.768

And hopefully now you better understand how having 20% of the players quit 5 times would not result in 0% players, but instead around 33%

No.
WE didn’t scream about having too few. In fact pretty much nobody asked for more.

People are focused on the wrong things that make DF feel tedious. It’s not the mechanics of the game. Mechanically, the game is in a very good spot. The problem with DF is the same issue the game has been having. There is very poor player interactivity. Players feel like NPCs in modern WoW. There’s no lasting teamwork among players. Everyone feels like they’re on a desert island surrounded by mannequins.

There’s no amount of gameplay mechanics that’s going to save WoW. The only thing that can help it is a complete overhaul in the way players meet and interact on servers. The “party” system is ultimately bad for the future of MMORPGs.
