Ah yes, so it begins. The infinite loop which is, ā€œRotations and talent trees are too complicated, fix it Blizzard.ā€ , ā€œTalent trees are so boring and bland and all rotations are braindead 3-5 buttons. Fix it Blizzard.ā€ , ā€œRotations and talent trees are too complicated, fix it Blizzard.ā€ Similar to how WoD is now a beloved expansion, itā€™s only a matter of time before MoP era talent trees will become beloved as well. Truly a short-lived honeymoon period.

lol, no. We dealt with your vision of WoW from WoD to BFA where they just kept pruning more and more until classes had basically no distinguishing features left. Do not bring that back, thanks. There are classes that are braindead simple currently. Sub rogue is a 3 button rotation at best. Fury Warrior is like 4 depending on how you talent it. Go play one of those.

In response to your title: I guess not. And it isnā€™t a ā€œbloatā€, in my possibly not very humble opinion.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far awayā€¦as for all the mutilate, slice and dice, etc, I dunno if you average grandma would like that sort of thing.

So nothing much to do with skill then.

Iā€™d quote myself and my opinion on these posts that keep insisting we go back to some boring slimline set of abilitites but I donā€™t want to seem like Iā€™m repeating myself, which I would be.

So I will just say - I disagree with you. Back to playing the gameā€¦

I believe the 3% is the number of people who cleared Sunwell.

Which is an extraordinarily high number. I didnā€™t clear Sunwell in BC, we were still working through Black Temple at the time. But that doesnā€™t mean we didnā€™t raid, we absolutely did.

It is actually better in my opinion then using a normal keyboard.

I have all my keybinds keyed to it so I donā€™t have to press shift ,ctrl or alt as modifiers while I play because they are already bound to the controller and it puts all of my abilities under 1 hand and it is just a matter of moving fingers.

Also another good thing is it is ergonomic lose less stress on the hands . Same thing with the mouse.

Thereā€™s nothing special about button bloat. Get off you r high horse

I can see how it would help with visual queue from actionbar layout to keypad button layout. It would feel more ā€œnaturalā€ in a way.

I would much rather have 2 setup options both being absolutely equal in performance output.

  1. More or less all passive with 5-6 buttons max for all actions.

  2. buttons, buttons, and more buttons for those that like buttons to press with their buttons with a few more buttons added on so thereā€™s buttons to push after the other buttons.

If thereā€™s no difference in performance and it simply a playstyle choice, thatā€™s what Iā€™d be interested in.

Yep. Thatā€™s whatā€™s so disingenuous about the ā€˜button bloat is fineā€™ people. They pretend or gaslight that passives are preferable to take over actives when most of the time that isnā€™t true BECAUSE blizz purposely designs actives to be preferable because they ā€˜take more skillā€™ and thus ā€˜should be better.ā€™

go back and check how many threads there were when they pruned the number of buttons , now compare it to the number that are whinging now there are too many buttons --its about 10 to one ration in favour of the whines about not enough buttons

When I used to use a normal keyboard I spent a lot of time looking down but with the controller over the years and having a basic rotation over the years it makes it easier to focus on the screen more because having a smalller area to focus on improved my game play muscle memory.

So to me it is both a performance and a playstyle choice.

Ok just speaking on hunters ok MM hunters.

I can give an example of where 2 passives are better then 1 active and you have select the ability to get to 1 of the passives.

Now on your spec tree there is

Which adds a serpent sting that fires along with your aimed shot negating the need for actually having to bing Serpent Sting and the passive Poisoned Injection that you had to pick serpent sting toget to works with Serpentstalkers to add it to the aimed shot .

Passives are about enhancing abilities and making them stronger. Better to bind abilities one will actually use and enhancing them .

This proves nothing. Passives would need to be easily better than actives most of the time, for all class/specs, in order to show they are prefered.
