Do devs even PVP?

Serious question… does anyone higher up at blizzard even play arenas? Pvp in the game has gotten worse and worse and worse and worse with every single pvp change lol i dont understand unless they play a dh/ udk…

I think whoever is doing pvp class tuning should actually have a effing clue to what goes on in pvp and what classes need what to perform…
They buff dh sustain dmg when its already topping meters every game and then they give feral druid (squishiest class in the game) a buff to the off heals lmfaoo… so now my rejuves heal for 20k… yay that will heal one dot in a global that takes me outra form lol… basically if you arent a rogue, dh or unholy dk your just having a bad pvp experience these days.

I’ve just conquest capped for this part of the season, and I went to upgrade the conquest gear thinking I’d just need to use HONOR only to find I’d need flight stones and Drake’s Dreaming Crest. When I hover over it it says I have to do the new normal raid and do mythic+ level 6 to 10. So seriously… why??? why do I have to do this PVE content to upgrade PVP gear??? This makes NO sense!

Yup another change i absolutely hate this season… i dont wanna touch pve ever its absolute trash in this game and pvp is starting to feel the same.

Because it’s only for upgrading the PVE ilvl. If you just PVP, you don’t need to worry about upgrading it at all.

It wasn’t a necessary change from the previous seasons, but it’s not a big deal either. Also, you do get flightstones and crests from PVP, so you can upgrade them through that. You can trade up crests too, I’m pretty sure, but acquisition is much slower that way.

such a flaw in the game though if it’s not an equal opportunity to acquire them through PVE as through PVP. I realize the gear will still be the same ilvl but won’t the stats improve with the upgrade?

skill issue

No.

Nothing changes if you upgrade it unless you’re PVEing.

The IL it boosts to inside PVP will always be the same.

actually annoying if u do go out in the world

like going from last seasons conquest to this seasons honor you drop so many ilvls so you have to keep 2 sets, wish they wouldn’t do that

i dont think they do. I remember seeing some dev characters because they were getting armory achievements for new content during shadowlands patch maintenance, and none of them had any pvp stuff.

Ion is too busy playing scripted AI choreography PvE on Gurgthock.

A former PvP dev. After he quit blizzard just before shadowlands he gave some interviews.

He explained why PvP scaling in regards to player levels was introduced. The scaling that brings down higher level players damage and brings up a low level players damage.

This happened because another developer was leveling and while doing so an enemy player at a higher level killed him with a star fall. He went to the PvP developer with this major issue. They implemented scaling, a reasonably impactful PvP change based on a single world PvP death. According to him the developers said they didn’t even want to talk about it because “they” will just get worked up about it. They being you, me all of us.

Blizz made PvP changes based on a nothing burger, because someone got ganked maybe accidentally. Wanted zero feedback as well, in fact despised the feedback they thought they might receive. What else do you need to know?

In some interviews he was suggesting by his tone/demeaner (in my opinion anyway) but not out right saying that balancing is not done based on what you might expect, balance isn’t a priority either. He never one time, that I remember, talked about how important it was to get it right. Or how much Blizzard emphasized reasonable balance.

Edit: I found the interview…
Here’s a quote in regards to balance.

That’s always a debate on the team. It’s just like well… Is it worth investing all this time into a WoW arena thing or balancing the game for arena or all of that? Because it’s net player base is sort of small…

He pointed out he “had all these cool ideas” but got a new arena in Shadowlands and that was it. Resources don’t go to PvP he made it clear.

Roadblock isn’t the difficulty in balancing. It’s about caring enough about player PvP experience as compared to the cost. We might not be worth it to Blizzard. What am I saying? Might not be… Improving all of our PvP experience combined not worth the .1% less profit it might mean.

Expect minimal effort, the good enough effort, like the guy doing your remodel while on their 10th beer. They are aiming for the “good enough job” that never gets done well and rarely even achieves good enough.

Look at what the last few patches have done to PvP and tell me alcohol isn’t involved…

Of course they PvP, they all play DH.

Short answer… No.

Long answer… Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Balancing is probably done mostly through spreadsheets and basic analytics. That said, lots of the problem in PvP are a direct result of PvE. :frowning:

I wonder how a clone would do on the market. If it were balanced, distilled, cared for.

I wonder how much of that small player base is turned away by the rest of the wow experience and would come eat hearty at a stand alone

How about

RIGHT TO REPAIR

How about someone fixes the game and we can pay them a small fee and a monthly fee to host?

As it is we don’t have private property rights applied to our digital purchases. We are basically paying fee to borrow a copy of every game we buy.

No, not even one does outside of like random bgs.

It seems like they don’t. If they did, groups would not be allowed in solo queue matches for both arena AND bg. Garbage I’m seeing in bgs tonight makes me think devs are completely out of touch.

I think it’s probably really hard to enjoy/actively play the game when you work on it. You see everything behind the scenes and just have a completely different perspective on it. I also don’t think you need to play it to do a good job developing it.
