DM CHANGED to be Harder? - So much for the "Classic Experience"

layers made sure we never got the vanilla experience. also i would say 1.12 is the worse patch of vanilla. the no chnages people need to let it go. there was mever going to be nochanges. we got nerfed classic game play which is great, but this game was changed day one.

I don’t understand why you and others keep saying this. Was 1.12 Vanilla? Yes, it was. Is Classic 1.12 as authentically as possible with compromises to the changed structure of the code base and the internet, and modern hardware? Yes, it is.

#nochanges doesn’t mean precisely the same. That’s impossible, as the devs explained at length at Blizzcon when it was announced. It means no frivolous gameplay (or other) changes beyond those implemented progressively by the continual patching up to and including Naxx.

It’s patently disingenuous to make a strawman out of that and then use it as an argument for more and any further change.

what strawman? i personally think 1.12 sucks, didnt say anything else.

Which are you saying, because right now you’re contradicting yourself?

1.12 is nerfed game play. that is why i think it sucks.

But it is Vanilla. So your snide reference to #nochanges is just that.

i dont care if it is “vanilla” 1.12 still sucks.

vanilla never had layers. that one change was enough to make #nochanges never realized.

Layers were a deference to a big logistical problem that Vanilla fell over by the way. The servers were down as much as they were up during the first months - so much so Blizzard credited free time to everyone’s accounts. Layers were an attempt to mitigate that with millions of players hitting the servers all at once.

I didn’t like layers either, but they are gone now on most servers. It was a temporary solution to a modern problem - one of the compromises I mentioned.

Wait wait wait…Dire Maul is hard in Classic??? Are you joking? I pugged it and did a tribute with no problems, same with the other wings. If anything it may have been nerfed or is based on WoW version 2.0 [the pre-tbc patch] - tons of items are using TBC values so there is no reason why some mobs / dungeons / raids would not be using that nerfed data as well.

Vanilla also didn’t have the same number of people on a server that classic does. What’s your point?

It appears that they made parts of Dire Maul more difficult in a manner inconsistent with any 1.x patch in order to discourage solo farming.

I don’t recall people solo farming 55-60 level instances in vanilla. Also if you read the comments on Wowhead about DM you’ll see Blizzard did nerf some of the trash back in 2005-2006.

Hunters did solo DMs pretty regularly, and other classes could pull it off with some creativity.

so? that was change they decided.

Don’t feel like it’s much harder if at all bro. Sorry you’re wiping, need a better group or guild.

I cannot help but be refreshed by the torrent of tears created by blizzard chosing to yank the class-specific loot piñata out from dungeons like DM. Call it schadenfrau.

Run it with groups, the way it was designed to be run.

The only people I see using these kind of statements and ‘perspective’, are the ones that want their pet exploits put back in the game so they can make massive gold.

Classic, as a whole, is meant to be representative of the state of the original game once the bugs were ironed out, the exploits were fixed, and the classes achieved a final state. Don’t expect that to change with Classic TBC. Expect a late patch-level, that didn’t include all the exploits you feasted on at its start. Its just the way it goes.

Was Classic exactly Vanilla? No. But they’re close enough that I don’t give a s***. I love layering because I don’t like 500 people in one zone and no mobs, particularly given what streamers proved can happen if you dogpile zones. Those who don’t like layering are basically eternal complainers.

If they go layering, they’ll slag off on Blizzard because of it.
If they didn’t go layering, they’ll slag off on Blizzard because the servers are down every hour.

Now… I’d suggest going to p-servers for those sweet, sweet exploits… but apparently even they aren’t that dumb to leave them in their version and get their economy wrekt.

So it’s different?
or
It’s different than it was on private servers?
