DK - Really the Slowest Class?

Title.

I see people mention us when talking about the slowest class but I don’t really feel that slow on my Dk?

Thoughts?

I saw someone mentioned making WW baseline. I think that would be great. I love love a different pose for it though…

The only classes that compete with DK for slowness are paladins and warlocks.

Warlocks have portals to move quickly from point a to point b over short distances and can talent for burning rush as well.

Paladins are in a pretty similar boat to DKs but the charger is more burst speed than deaths advance or WW, so they can move quicker on shorter distances when it’s important (during a boss fight).

All that said, I still love DKs. WW Baseline would be really nice though.

really wish they just kill that trash WW and bring back Wod DA and presences. sure you had enchants but Unholy Pres and DA was the best combo.

In my experience I lag behind others in dungeons as an unholy DK. The other classes seem to be able to sprint past me and I’ve been locked out of boss fights when the group is in a real hurry

Was still peeved since the day I saw they decided to give Paladin’s that ability.

DK’s, depicted as mounted warriors since their inception in WC3, get some crappy movement CD that now needs to be talented (WW) while Paladin’s got what I felt was thematic of DKs.

Big same. :expressionless:

I see what y’all are saying, but with how strict paladins have it with it comes to that mount I actually wouldn’t want it.

Unless the mount was out flying mount or some-other type of undead mount. I just personally don’t care for mount movement like that. :man_shrugging:t5:

I actually saw someone do the math on this once. Over a long distance, such as running back after a wipe in a dungeon or raid, DKs and Paladins are indeed the slowest classes in the game. With 1.0 being unbuffed run speed, DKs are increased to 1.11 speed using Wraith Walk and Death’s Advance, and paladins are up to 1.13 with the talent that gives 2 charges of Steed. THe fastest, iirc, are havoc DHs (using both fel rush and double jump/glide) and Monks, both somewhere in the 1.65-1.7 range. I forget the numbers.

Point is, yes, DKs are the slowest.

Paladins are way faster. You can never be slowed with freedom and bubbles. Divine steed is usually better too unless you’re running away and get death gripped.

From a PvP perspective sure. I was considering more PvE.

Dungeons would suck less as a DI dwarf no? Movement speed indoors.

Might have to consider that myself…

Or just use potions.

Pick your poison, lol.

Dont speed pots lock out other pots though?

Back in wod didn’t need a speed pot or speed food to go fast

Don’t fix what wasn’t broke

Technically the WoW death knight was anti mobility. They were also faster while mounted with On A Pale Horse. They did have unholy presence too but for the most part entirely anti movement. Death grip, chains of ice, desecrated ground if I remember correctly, heart strike slow, hungering cold and AMS so you aren’t slowed as often.

I always thought that all that stuff was scrounge tools and we just kept them when defecting.

The surprise of suddenly moving faster just to mess and scare my foes

Well there is a problem with anti-mobility. It doesn’t work on bosses.

Those of you finding yourselves getting left behind, I’m assuming you’re talking about LFG dungeons? In M+ Unholy DK has some of the highest dps in the game. Their representation is low due to people wanting to take DH or Rogue, but even at MDI many teams used Unholy DK. As soon as you get to a point where mobs live for more than 3-5 seconds being outrun shouldn’t be an issue.

I don’t think any class has boss slow down

Back when we had chiliblains that made our ice spells slow stuff down. And if it workd on bosses it would have made it way better and a hard choice on either that or DA.

Since it didn’t people choose DA or force choke

So yeah unholy pres and wod DA the dream team. So good you could do anything during the boost unlike now.

Blizzard wanting DKs to be slow juggernauts has turned out terribly IMO

Having low mobility sucks in all content and there’s no upside to it since DKs don’t hit hard or have lots of utility to compensate (DPS DKs have pretty much none), and the GCD going from a flat 1 second to 1.5 seconds but modified by haste has only resulted in making the specs less fun.

Also, being slow was never part of the DK fantasy before Legion tried to make it a thing. They’ve always been incredibly fast, in fact, even in Warcraft 3 (one of DK’s four abilities was passive movement speed).

Really hope they just go back to WoD DA + Unholy Presence. That was perfect.
