Oh, they dont. And that was the main argument point with the DK is that it really didnt have anything since nothing in its kit really worked on bosses. Paladins had to run to the boss as well if they were ret, but they had other things as well.
There was ranged damage at the time as well like Death Coil, or you could Horn of Winter for some extra RP when you were getting to the target. Its not that it was completely empty in what you could do while moving, but it wasnt that great of damage or utility or anything unlike paladin that could BoP or HoF or LoH and help out the raid quite a bit.
The Dk just needed to get to the target. Didnt like WW because that thing was bugged to no end and you could get stuck on a slight incline and you couldnt jump, they put it in that you could jump if you got stuck.
I would rather have DA over WW any day of the week.

The slow juggernaut thing doesnt just stop at movement speed though, it extended into the gameplay and this expansion that gameplay got even slower.

Yep. Not many people talk about it, but in Legion the GCD for DKs was increased from 1 second to 1.5 seconds (modified by haste), which, I mean… at a baseline level it now takes 33% longer to get spells out. That sucks.
Then the specs got hit with a ton of downtime on top of that, which also really sucks. especially since the spells you do get out feel really unimpactful due to how passive DK’s damage is. And now in BfA we’ve got the GCD change, which for most specs isn’t too noticeable but for DKs is horrendous due to Pillar of Frost and Dark Transformation’s extremely low cooldowns (and Death Grip can be annoying to use now too)
They really screwed up the class IMO.

Dont forget the change to Killing Machine in Legion which kind of defeats the abilities purpose.
Killing Machine used to be that auto attacks had a chance to trigger it. In Legion it changed to auto attack crits so unless you have 20-30 crit you arent going to see that many which also limits your talent choices since you dont have crit. But if you do have enough crit, you are critting regularly enough that you dont need the ability unless you have something like Frostscythe or Murderous Efficiency, one you always want to crit for the multiplier, and the other only works off of Killing Machine which you need crit for.
Its so poorly designed and people are harping all over this 2h thing when the spec is in a total disaster of a state.

Yes. No other class has less mobility options, and the ones we do have are really bad. Frost and Unholy have the best disconected damage out of any melee to compensate, but it’s not a good trade when warrior and rogue can instantly gapclose and start their full rotation.
Velf in 8.3 and Goblin currently will mitigate the issue in a BIG way. Worgen is okay, but a 40% sprint isnt as good as the rift jump or rocket boost.

In BGs on my velf warrior, if I see a low health dude I can jump on and kill with execute who’s in the middle of the fray, i flick the camera behind me, launch the orb, flick back forwaed, charge in, smash exe exe, and port out.
A lot of PvE movility requirements are telegraphed. The velf port can also pull you out of a knock up or if the boss is flinging you off a ledge, you can use the void shift to keep grounded. Basically any kind of mechanic that flings your character into the air or off a ledge can get cheesed with void shift.
On my warlock, i try to scout situations where i need mobility, throw the ball out, cast for 5 seconds to keep damage up, and take the orb.
I’ve seen a lot of success with Void Shift, and with their passive racial being shadowfrost damage, the moment 8.3 goes live, my dK gets a race change. Velf is easily going to be the hands down best DK race on the alliance.
I see it and used mine for more of a bait and switch.
I’m eyeing going Pandaren and bouncy is really nice but you could cc into pet cc while getting away.
Another thing to consider is that Void Empowerment does Shadowfrost damage, so UH and Frost get mastery scaling on the damage racial.
I’m 100% convinced Velf is going to be the best Alliance DK race by a mile.
Bouncy is kind of niche imo.
Ik if I ever go back alliance with my Dk I was considering KT or DI. I wanna see the new customisations though.
O bouncy is def niche, but plays can be made with it too. They also get that food buff.

I understand that someone has to get the short stick on mobility, but I think they could do a mobility skills that’s more interesting than a passive.
I was think a position swap skill, like urgot from lol, could work.
Death grip works on allies and takes us to them
You don’t need 20-30% crit. The proc is rppm and you only need something like 10% crit to not be limited by auto attack autos.

Back before ww happened people were tossing out ideas of a sneak around by using the shadowlands and pop out to re position yourself.
That might have lead to WW and I don’t want another ability most of the playerbase hates

Definitely slowest. Speed pots are needed in world pvp and dungeons if you want to catch up or keep up with a dungeon run.
Offhand auto attacks have a lower chance of hitting by nature. And it also doesnt proc on every crit, it has a chance to proc on a crit. So if you have a 10% chance to crit, and those crits have a chance to proc KM.
The more you crit and the more you attack the higher rate you gain KM.
You shouldn’t need those if we kept what we had and use pots that would help us elsewhere
What did we lose and how is it impacting your play? At our most mobile other than what we have now, we had UH presence+Death’s Advance. Technically speaking, with Death’s Advance and the ability to spec into WW, we can have more mobility now than we’ve ever had in the past, which isn’t really saying a lot. DK’s have been forced into racials for high end play for 5 years now. If you haven’t given a damn before, you won’t start giving a damn now, because DK has been race locked in high end play for years already.
The only source of mobility we lost was the passive bonus on DA, and the UH presence bonus, but the Presence each spec used differed on a patch by patch basis, so you didn’t even always have access to that. Trading out WW and DA on an expansion by expansion basis is outright just a wash, and taking both currently gives you more mobility than the class has ever had.
Playing anything other than Worgen or Goblin RN is putting you at a massive disadvantage, and I’ll be the first to admit that the only reason my dude is human is aesthetics.
