DK Hostage Blitz

How does a Disc Priest get out of a dk gripping you away from combat? Ran into a game where a DK kept me on lockdown the entire game. Chains of Ice is none dispellable and has no CD. What do you do in this situation?

Im guessing I cant go anywhere near a Dk if the teams not around? my team died on Offence and I ended up alone at enemy flag room. Went oom and stayed hostage. Tried letting him kill me and he stops attacking and just chains, grips, sits…

Now you know how it feels when you Life Grip players in PvE content to their doom…

The solution? Get your team to kill the DK.

Tried that but I got griefed hard for being there. Even though our own dk was doing the same bs to an enemy healer the whole game. that whole concept shouldn’t even be possible.

That’s counter play? holding a healer in an unbreakable stalemate in a corner somewhere for the entirety of a match?

If it took tremendous skill I could maybe see it but we’re talking about Chains of Ice spam with the occasional Grip weaved in. Anyone could do this.

If you have a paladin or two on your team, make sure they help you with freedom. Also, yeah, they need to die. It doesn’t take long to get rid of a death knight.

I had no help the entire match. My damage did barely anything to the dk. I dont see a Disc priest beating a dk in a 1v1. Maybe Im wrong. Maybe somebody could explain how this is doable.

No no, I didn’t mean you should kill the dk. Your team needs to peel for you.

Yah I begged lol. Just got flamed. Oh well just wanted to see if there is another way to get away from the DK on my own. Guess not.

It doesn’t matter how much skill it takes or doesn’t take. Shapeshifting a polymorph doesn’t take skill, but it is counterplay.

It’s okay for your class to have weaknesses.

One of your melee teammates can kill a dk in 3 seconds, from 100 to 0.

I was dragged from Roc to Almost their mage tower by two DKs.
zero counter.

I had one try and drown me. He drowned first.

There was a disc guy that used to post here every day about his RBG teams losing to DKs because they would grip him into the water.
He said it was impossible to play against them because it was impossible to stop this.

It takes a single warrior of any spec to end this.
Too bad we have such a limited amount of warrior players…

I was only 1800 at the time but many of the people in my match were 2400. They still flamed and didn’t care. Our own DK was doing the same thing to another Priest the whole game while this was happening to me. It looks like DK’s que Blitz just to do this. I never saw this before 1800, but now I see this happening about every other match. Apparently, it’s a pretty common practice. Healers get paired in much higher match ratings than dps because nobody wants to heal. I can’t imagine why that is…

Might have to play my RDruid for a while. Gotta get my mastery up first.

I’m not for certain but there should be diminishing returns on it. Also, as a side note, it probably should have sort of cool down tbh. BUT there are other spells that have similar function without cd, like mage slow. I think the issue here is obviously the combination of the grip and the slow.
So I wouldn’t be opposed to a cd on the slow since its with a class that already has the grip.
also, ice magic should probably be dispellable imo.

It’s always something with every class. It’s hard to balance for pvp purposes.

Just have to communicate with players prior to the game. I’d probably whisper someone specifically and ask them for help if needed just so you are on the same page.

Should be, but there isn’t. Grip, typhoon, thunderstorm, blastwave, etc. should also share a similar DR. Get’s incredibly annoying to be tossed around the map.

There is no defense for the whooping crane.
Just gotta pray for enemies that are not Dks like my Ret did with MM and Priests, or reroll.

They also have 2 charges of steed and a sprint as well. The Chains ability made sense before they added mobility to DK but the Chains and double Grip are excessive now. I think people are running DK’s in rated bg’s strictly to exploit this cheese.

The only slows on other melee’s that have no cd are way less impactful. Just a few examples, Hamstring and whatever the WW slow is called are way less affective. Hamstring is literally at melee range and barely slows. The WW slow has some range but is similar in effect to Hamstring.

Chains on the other hand has way longer range, the slow effect is easily double if not triple the slow effect, spammable, and magic yet undispellable. There is literally no reason for this when you have 2 grips and 3 charges of gap closers(2 steed and a sprint).

Honestly, I think Chains was an oversight on Blizzards end after adding mobility. I have to think they accidently forgot to change Chains Of Ice. This can’t possibly be intentional.

I don’t play disc like this but, can you not Mindcontrol him around a corner, then feather away. Sure, he may kick and AMS the first couple attempts, but you will get him eventually.

If that doesnt work, you mentioned trying to let him kill you. How about attacking him without applying atonement to yourself. This way SOMEONE will die, one way or another.
