Disgusted by Blizzard and Lay-offs

Which is ultimately our fault due to voting in lawmakers who make it possible.

I’m doing no such thing. I’m pointing out how garbage corporatism has become, and why people are so mad about it.

I think people should really do research before they defend a system that will never help them get ahead unless they hit the lottery.

I will repeat what I said in another thread.

The $200 million payout has nothing to do with the layoffs. Period. It’s not great in the first place, but it’s also not tied to that situation.

Well yeah. Maybe I wasn’t clear. When I said blame the country I meant blame all these American citizens for supporting or tolerating this capitalistic greed. Is it a working solution? Yes. Is it the best? Probably not.

Oh yeah I wasn’t disagreeing, just expanding on what you said.

I know it doesn’t. I said that it’s BS that they can do stuff like give out 200 million and lay off in a pandemic. NOt they laid off people to give 200 million.

So they should have violated the contract and ended up having to pay even more?

Bold take.

Do we need to add this topic to the bingo board? I’m not sure if even a dwarf liver could handle that much but if its bingo worthy material.

I think so too. It’s clear you haven’t.

There wasn’t 190 people laid off. If you actually find a source that says 190 I would love to see it because the only time I have seen that number come up was in some fool’s video and the statement was LESS than 190 people laid off and 50 was quoted to be the actual number.

They aren’t laying of the esports employees to save money to line Bobby’s pockets though. They just aren’t needed.

It’s like the time my husband got layed off when the big pharma company he worked for closed their dermatology division. Can’t really be mad the rest of the company does well just because a division is closed.

it says between 50-190 on all the articles.

that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying that the priorities are borked.

"The dismissals affect less than 2% of the total workforce, or fewer than 190 employees, said a person with knowledge of the matter who asked not to be identified because the number isn’t public. "

From the Bloomberg article. Personally I never trust “I have knowledge but I am not going to own my words” people, but YMMV.

Their is Tom Brady who sacrifices his pay for the team and then their is Bobby Kotick who sucks everyone dry to his benefit.

You can be sued for breaking a contract.
You can not be sued for laying people off.

Seems like their priorities are pretty correct.

I can tell you are arguing morality but I will let you in on a secret: Morality is for individuals, not companies.

How so? They don’t want to do esports as it’s not popular and not well received by the esport community. Why would they keep employees they don’t need and what does that have to do with priorities?

Then it shouldn’t be any problem showing me one. Like I said I have seen only 50 quoted, except for some fool who read a statement of less than 190 as meaning around 200.
