Because it’s not up to us, it’s up to Blizzard. We don’t know what they’re going to do, would you rather they leave it in fully? Coming up with potential compromises is a safer bet than demanding something that may be unlikely to happen.
They have decided to go forward with these changes, knowing full well the kind of backlash they would have. What I’ve been doing, is engaging in dialectic; trying to inform people on the reasons Blizzard have used this system for nearly 12 years. Through that dialectic (and a fair bit of arguing), we’ve landed on a compromise that is probably more likely to be entertained by Blizzard, than the outright removal of the auto-squelch.
everybody has their limits. by the way, i have never seen that hat on a male belf before. looks cool. i have it in my mog thingy on retail but havent used it on male belf. didnt even think about it.
Because at the end of the day, it’s easier to meet in the middle and come up with something both sides can live with rather then argue to the end of our days, get no where and blizzard does nothing. At least with a compromise Bornakk or which ever CM reads it, can take our compromise to the devs and other relevant people and they can decide if that’s something they want to do or not.
I want classic. Some want BFA. Let’s meet in the middle and have WoD.
I just want classic, so do a lot of other people. Auto-mute was added in TBC apparently. How about a good compromise is we get Classic first and then if having auto-mute is a condition to some for playing then stay on retail or wait until TBC servers.
galdor/dawnspirit/knocrogue’s idea was that auto squelch would only be used on gold seller’s or people selling services for real life money. then it would be obvious if someone was just using it to harrass other players. otherwise, profanity, etc, would be handled the normal way – ignore
As you can all see this is the PERFECT example of what this issue is all about. Here we have this forum’s most prolific troll, posting with impunity, yet completely abusing the right click report system. There is no better example. I rest my case.
Soon he will violate the CoC of this forum, troll this call out, completely antagonize everyone on this forum, yet NOTHING will be done about it. Wait for it…
No, she simply made a suggestion that like 2 or three of those who already were anti squelch liked.
A disruption in general channels is a disruption, regardless if it is a goldseller or a player who is incapable or unwilling to self regulate what they choose to crap up the public channels with.
Anyone who wants to truly know can easily read that thread and make their own decision as to whether she was “harassed” or simply got upset that her arguments were not working.
There were also multiple compromises proposed in the 3000+ post “horrific” thread, that were not even remotely entertained by those who do not want the current system. Those people were completely willing to even discuss them, and at one point the OP of this thread accused people of being liars when reminded that those compromises existed.
People should never have the power to punish players for anything in WoW, because something offensive, toxic, whatever, etc., can be different from one player to another. If you are that sensitive then you are right to quit WoW.
Seriously, just hit ignore and move on with your life.
