Disappointed

How is it less flawed? Because players can’t take “justice” into their own hands in vanilla, it makes vanilla reporting more flawed then now? No I get it, you want that instant satisfaction of things happening right now.

No need to wait for a GM to review the situation if players can just hall monitor each other and shut up anyone they don’t like.

Because spammers and trolls are actually stopped quickly, vs. potentially not at all. Not hard to see how it actually works better, just look at how terrified some people apparently are that they won’t be able to troll.

If you say so, Mr “Consequence-free environment”.

Trolling is pretty subjective sometimes. You aren’t blizzard. Just because you didn’t like a joke doesn’t mean it wasn’t a joke and not actually trolling.

If someone is spamming, you report them, they get ignored and you never hear from them again. It’s not up to you to punish them for spamming.

Also get off this notion that people are just terrified they won’t be able to troll. You don’t have to be a troll or want to be a troll to disagree with this system.

Damn actually he’s right. #nochanges is actually an amazing argument. All we really want is a true vanilla experience, that’s what started this whole thing. And since by now everyone knows why no changes is important to us, we shouldn’t feel obligated to further explain ourselves to death.

Changed my mind about everything. I’ve wasted thousands of words and multiple threads over something that didn’t require it.

I don’t want right click + tell mom, because #nochanges.

And changes aren’t debatable for me.

If you consider the auto-squelch a punishment, and Blizzard wants us to use their report feature to report spammers…

Then Blizzard has left it up to us to punish them for spamming, no?

Except, you don’t have to be spamming to be squelched.

And how is auto-squelch NOT a punishment?

you, dawnspirit, etc figured out a solution for that yesterday. :+1:
tell the people of the thread, what that was.

I posted it again in that thread as it seems people may have missed it. We could take this discussion back to that thread if people are willing.

it seems relevant here as well. might lift the op’s spirits about it also.

I think this could be a good compromise that Blizzard may be more likely to entertain, rather than outright removing the auto-squelch.

I … would be OK with this suggestion. I feel it’s a decent compromise.

You can make a ticket from the help window.

You can ignore up to 50 people! Lasts longer than a 24 hour suspension too. Lasts forever.

There’s a profanity filter so you can censor yourself from ever seeing a naughty word. Even if it’s in a context that wouldn’t justify a report, it’s still censored. This in a way even transcends the scope of reporting.

Spam? You’re covered, try spamming a global channel in WoW right now, you won’t even get to post 4 messages without being put on CD.

Need more than that? Blizzard even created an API that specifically allows for the filtering of messages. Many addons exist that enable changes to what you see. There’s even an addon that lets you ignore more than 50 people AND you get a warning if you’re about to group with someone you are ignoring.

So why are we talking compromises? The tools already in the game are a compromise lol. Right click + tell mom is still a hard no from me.

I mean, it’s not what I would prefer outright, but it’s specific enough that it’s not really up to the subjective opinions of a group of players.

If you’re really quitting then why the effort to tell the forums? if we will never see you again and don’t care then why the effort to make a scene so someone asks you back or beg you to stay? I say good riddance, we need less people being over dramatic making a spectacle of them self’s for attention in this game. Bye!

nah it was a protest. difference.

a protest of what? saying what you are even upset about?
or a protest of non click bait titles?

she appears to have taken part in a conversation on the forums that covered the subject of auto squelch, and felt she was being harrassed about it. so she quit and left a message why.

that it? dear god, i hope she never has any real problems, poor thing probably wouldn’t survive…
