Disappointed with Paying for Early Access to the New Expansion

Everyone is entitled to their own feelings/opinions, but a lot of people in this thread are unhappy about early access, claiming the majority only care about that (which seems to be your assertion as well). I bought Epic for the pixel perks; I have to work tomorrow so my “early access” doesn’t start until Friday.

If you and others really believe that the majority of those that actually paid for Epic only did so for early access, I’ll submit that you and those with that conviction of opinion as truth suffer from Confirmation Bias. If one dislikes something (e.g., early access), one finds a way to view other evidence that supports that viewpoint and conveniently ignore anything that contradicts that viewpoint (like me buying Epic and not even being able to use EA).

Did I say “all”?" No, I said “many”. Not majority, not some percentage figure, not a definite fact, my suggestions (ie opinion, since anything said here that isn’t an actual fact is an opinion).

Point to me where I provided evidence beyond said opinion.

Fact is, some people like yourself choose to slant their statements to say that anyone holding another viewpoint is somehow flawed or ignorant (ie ‘ignore anything etc’).

I hold by my opinions until I see input that gives me the opportunity to consider alternatives. All your comment does is say “you are wrong”.

Gigachad answer to a whiny and cringe post.

With that logic why are you paying a subscription just to play with worthless pixels? Please read your own comments before posting cringe.

Microsoft owns Blizzard, why is pay to play so surprising to everyone? This is how companies squeeze money out of people lol.

I think you trying to tell me how to spend my money/time just because I disagree with early access is cringe, honestly.

I agree with you and shared my thoughts in another post. Edit agree with the original poster.

I specifically did not buy the epic edition due to “early access”. I would have been a good target for it, its very close to my birthday, I have the money, and interest. To be clear, it is delaying everyone else who doesn’t pay by 3 days. Many of my guildies have purchased the epic edition so release for them is tomorrow. I only have mentioned in passing that I will join the 26th but they are definitely excited, I do not want to dampen their enthusiasm with me making a point. I will be less excited on Tuesday than normal for a new expansion, I like the crowded zones.

As far as the other goodies in the epic edition - very nice mostly.
Beta access - I have done it, heh won’t be paying to be one even if it only a couple of bucks.
game time is nice, it is basically a direct offset to the cost
Character boost is for each purchase level and traders tender is amount is stepped as well.
I am pretty meh personally on buying toys, pets, and mounts though if that is your thing then it is a great deal.

The last couple of launches have been reputedly pretty decent, so having everyone on is a non-starter.

Lastly, even if it is a very short time, doesn’t in the grand scheme cost much, and it will have minimal game impact this is an additional paywall to access the content. 100%

All my friends and family that are doing early access are doing it to have an edge. Whether that is true or not I can’t deny it is a competitive advantage.

How much so will be determined how Blizzard arranges things for launch.

But I suspect FIFO and EE and EO will triumph once more.

Just like in business first in and speed always win.

Quoting this amazing post, the amount of corporate shills who will kneel down, open their mouths and eat whatever these garbage businesses shove down their throat is disgusting. NOTHING good comes from this practice, all this does is show that they can put an expansion behind a larger paywall without consequence. What if the next expansion has a 10 day early access? 20? Will you defend them then?

The people defending this garbage are why corps enforce these anti-consumer practices. We are already paying 15$ a month AND 49$ for an expansion, we should not for any reason have to pay 40$ extra just to play content earlier than those who don’t. Period.

The expansion is available for three price points. Epic Edition costs the same as it did in DF. Early access was free.

Grats. You didn’t. Maybe calm down and stop insulting people and frothing at the mouth.

Grats, you did? Are you going to continue to defend and “sir yes sir” every decision blizzard makes? Like I said before what if EA is 10 days next expansion, will you defend them then?

The entire mathematical breakdown is at the top of this thread. I suggest reading it.

I’m giving you logic, not defense of anyone. You’re the one making personal attacks and flipping out.

No one is defending anyone. Calm down.

Lmao you’re clearly defending, you’re trying to use an argument “Well the mathematical breakdown justifies this trash” Sorry, not everyone cares about mounts or “toys” they locked this EA behind a 90$ paywall because they knew people would drop an extra 40$ just for 3 days of game time. So like I said before shill, will you defend this practice if its 10 days EA?

There’s nothing to defend. There’s math and factual information given.

And not everyone cares about early access either. Shocking how that works.

Fact is, Epic Edition is the same price it was last time. Not a penny more.

And again… I’m not defending anything as I could give a crap if it exists or not. This game has major problems. Three days isn’t it.

Try having a mature conversation without the attempt at dumb insults next time, kiddo.

Hope you have a better day.

For the record, I bought early access. That doesn’t mean I’m happy about it, and I still hugely dislike it. The fact that I don’t think it should be an option doesn’t mean I look down upon or judge anyone or did buy it (because obviously I also bought it). My passion for this topic comes from having empathy for those who didn’t buy it but do feel left out from early access.

I learned a long time ago that boycotting these things in these games doesn’t work. I took a principled stance against the sparkle pony in Wrath and practically everything else that came after that. And… it could be argued that without the huge community pushback against those monetization practices that, like… it would’ve been worse. That we’d have way more eggregious pay to win BS in the game now.

But if I actually wanted the sparkle pony? I still don’t think store mounts are worth it. But I no longer care if anyone else has it.

I bought early access because I wanted it, and I do feel pretty bad about it. I still think it’s a grift and it is scummy as f— for them to have put the ONLY thing I cared about behind the highest tier of the game.

People can defend it, I just don’t like it also. It has not been done before, and it is not needed, it just a way to get the most addicted players to spend more money.

It also does add a edge with gathering, even though people will say it does not, (I mean being able to mass gather and hold mats also less competition. Blah blah.)

Overall, it is a good business choice but bad for consumers.

Lol, sure kid, enjoy being a corporate shill, and yes once this hits 10 days EA (which it no question will) you will be here defending it just like you’re doing now.

For the record, I bought the Epic Edition. Just like you. Which includes more than early access. No one “bought early access.” There’s no way to “buy early access.” You have to buy an entire major pack of stuff to get early access.

And I don’t plan on playing early access. I’ve got better things to do and this game is too broken right now. I’ll let everyone else beta test the expansion before I touch it.

I’m more concerned with broken banks, etc. Not three lousy days.

If boycotting doesn’t work then what does? This is only going to get worse and worse if people don’t argue against it.
