Disappointed in Blizzard making Sylvanas a villain

Because that’s who Blizzard writes the story for. They are just different students from the ones 5/10/15/20 years ago.

maybe you skipped all of mop and wod

I’m a student who’s 21 right now and I can say this is awful writing for a fantasy game

It’s always been awful, but there’s fun awful and just awful awful. DF was peak awful awful. TWW is better, but hasn’t reached fun awful yet.

If “new and improve” means rainbow coalition, sure.

I like this one… has a certain madness to his method.

Legion was definitely the highest point in a while. It at least had a lot of cool moments

If it wasn’t for TWW, the Dwarves would have zero presence in this game. Tauren and Dwarves were fighting for irrelevancy for a while there.

Which is a shame, Dwarves are fun in just about any setting, but WoW’s are especially endearing.

Also I’d like to point out that Sylvanas has been a villain, or at least mischaracterized as such… since Cata and Gilneas, but at the same time the story devs have also confessed that Garrosh being a saint in this small stint before MoP was also a major mischaracterization and that he was always meant to be an insane tyrant so… yeah Cata was all sorts of backwards.

Dwarves are the only thing Rings of Power got right too, ironically enough.

You could delete every single thing out of Rings of Power except for the Khazadum and Eregion stuff and you might have a decent show still. Nothing of value would be lost.

Sylvannas was always the selfish brooding villain. She was just scorned and malevolent, she wasn’t trying to destroy everything and go to war every year.

I gotta read LoTR and Hobbit, I got em from the local Barnes and Noble nearly a month back but I haven’t gotten to em yet cause it’s taking forever to finish Art of War & other classics of Eastern Philosophy.

I blame Confucius, Sun Wu was interesting, but the last few portions have just been Confucius answering questions with more questions.

Art of War is really damn good. I need to read that again.

Nah, BFA was really the only expansion where she went off the rails due to Afrasiabi wanting revenge for the rest of the writing team not wanting to move forward with Stonetalon Garrosh.

If you bother with the silmarillion you will either like it or hate it

It was made years ago, why are you brining it up now?

She was always evil, you just never cared to read a single quest dialog or pay attention to wow lore

Overseeing and allowing the free reign of the apothecaries to develop plague after plague was the first sign she was just a bad guy in this game. AKA I directly blame her for the Wrathgate.

Also her entire story being about revenge at any cost. Which was just an excuse to be as awful and violent as she wanted, which is highlighted due to her getting her revenge with Arthas dead and BECOMING MORE EVIL instead.

Raising any and all dead bodies as possible to rebuild her ranks, killing those who didn’t want to be resurrected as forsaken. (re-killing?)

All before BFA.

(ibn4 “it’s bad writing” I know that, and the bad writing still shows shes a bad guy.)

Yep.

She led an undead army that “recruited” by robbing graves. even most of the horde races have some ancestry worship/respect angle that has that as a bad thing.

She was written wrong long before BFA really.

See I had this cool fan fic idea to show this. MY BE DK takes the time to hunt down all the graves of the horde leaders loved ones.

Ghoul rez them. Hey thrall I found your parents. Say hi to mom and dad.

Thrall gets mad. And my BE DK goes now you see why the Alliance hates the forsaken. They aren’t digging thier dead sibling is now in a zombie army. Any questions?

If she was turned into a villain, it was back in Cataclysm, over 10 years ago. Everything she did in BFA was consistent with her character from that point.

Undead armies really can’t be written as “good”. they will try with the new person.

But yeah…if forsaken just lost 100 bodies in a battle 1 of 2 things happen.

they lose 100 forever. or they replace them. The “evil” comes in the replacements. Its going to be hard to find 100 people who will say why yes…when I die I want to be a shambling corpse. Sign me up!

Most would take option B. See where pelagos sends them. If old boy/girl liked gardening in life…good news! there is a section of the afterlife where they could use lots of beings to tend to gardens of pods.

We have only 1 forsaken I Know of who chose his fate. and he got executed lol.
