Disabling XP Gains on 110+ Characters

completely false. We like competition here and there. The problem was that there simply weren’t enough to fill bg slots consistently, resulting in hr+ long waits for a single bg. Back in WoD, 19 bracket was ONLY twinks and it thrived because the community was large enough. For upper brackets it isn’t because most people don’t want to level that high, instead they’d go 19/29/39 due to leveling ease

It’s my understanding that Blizzard backed down on this decision because the entire community is roasting them.

You seemed to only have read what you wanted to read. Not every person who had that playstyle was a baddie/bully but most were. It was the fact that so many were and falsely claimed to only want to fight each other that ruined things for everyone else. I read several of the exact same people who said “we only want to fight other twinks” make threads saying “omg, we have to fight fair fights now. NOT FAIR!”.

The claims of “our community is huge” would have easily meant that queues would pop left/right even after a split. Blizzard made a blue post afterwards talking about it being a small niche gameplay. I will admit that for XP-ON brackets, it made BGs WAY more fun. WSG actually felt like a game of capture-the-flag again. It wasn’t just a half hour of 3 guys with names like “Expartgamer” from guilds like “Dun wurry we r pro” playing whack-a-mole in the GY while doing emotes like /dance or /flex.

This Is all true which is a big part in why making non twinks (the majority) suffer at the hands of the twinks (the minority) all the more senseless.
They should’ve never reverted the legion instanced pvp format. Since the dawn of twink pvp it has ruined gameplay for the masses. Ima go out on a limb and even suggest twinking has cost more loss in player subs than the lack of twinking. Crazy idea I know

The complaints on “fair fights” from twinks was largely in Legion due to stat normalization which resulted in countless hours of gearing/money spent becoming futile.

Nah. They are still pretending to talk it over. Probably going to make it live next weekly reset

That’s the norm even outside of that gameplay. I spend hours of gearing and money on my max level toons only to do it again during a big patch or expansion.

A well-deserved roasting. I for one, and sick and bloody tired of being told how I should play the game. It’s my sub money and my time.

This is why I now spend my game-playing time, playing other games. Enough of this nonsense already.

Glad Blizzard is “reconsidering” but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they end up going with Plan “A”. Happy Christmas to all of us, right?

Depending on the brackets they were huge and some even managed to get some games during the segregation. HOWEVER, you have to think about it for a moment. The numbers were there but the times people played and fact that players were also segregated into Battlegroups also played a part.

Everything had to line up perfectly. You needed 10 Horde and 10 Alliance queing at the exact same time in the exact same Battlegroup. Mathematically, it just wasn’t going to work enough, and frequently to keep a “community” alive.

I get that, I really do. My XP-ON queue times were actually faster once the split occurred and I read most others saying the same. This was because people were more inclined to queue because they knew they could start enjoying BGs again and not repeatedly die in the GY for 15 minutes.

I still remember it. I had an average of 15 minute queue times and went to an average of 8 minutes. This was all throughout the expansion, not just at the beginning when everyone was playing and things were “new and shiny.” I read others having even faster times.

I’d considered freezing my Shaman at 110 to finish some Legion content (and still be able to queue for dungeons) as well as farm legendary items. I didn’t wind up doing that (but she’s still 111 and working on Legion stuff).

I think this change is atrocious though. Some players just do not appreciate the weakness that comes with scaling and would rather enjoy the content on a stronger lower level character than a weaker higher level one.

It looks like they learned nothing from the Legion pre-patch event and what a huge uproar they caused there with their heavy-handed greediness.

That sounds like insanity to me. Don’t get me wrong, I play endgame as well. But after 1-2 expansions, I got tired of the power climb (over and over) only for a new xpac to come out and render my efforts useless and start all over. So I decided to stop taking endgame so seriously. I might put effort in endgame if it means I can lock my xp the following xpac and retain the benefit of my hard work.

Endgame is just like twinking without the option to go higher level. The common goal is to go above and beyond to obtain BiS gear to hold your own and even destroy someone who hasn’t reached your status.

This isn’t aimed at you, but for the general population who wants even stats without hard work, I’d suggest they play something other than wow. Gearing up to wreck people has been the core essence of pvp in WoW since day 1.

So this what they get for listening to you all. You all want blizzard to listen to their player base. And this they have yet you are going to just assume they are just gonna go with thier original plans anyways so what’s the point in want them to listen.

So during BC I did 59 twinking, then in Wrath moved up to 69 twinking. This was obviously before the segregation happened, and I don’t remember queue times being a concern ever. Maybe it was the bracket I was in but just wondering about your take on that.

If they listened to their community they wouldn’t be jerking them around like this. Blizzard is out of touch.

Not really insane because I’m not expecting different results. I like having new goals to obtain.

Yes, you are right. Gearing up to wreck people in PVP has been that way in WoW since the beginning but those who thrive off of new players as their life essence are the sad ones that cause turmoil and Blizzard to make changes that hurt the playstyle.

The main reason I learned to get better was because of people who buried me in Pvp due to those same reasons. And if it were not for 110 boosts, most people leveling from 110-120 would not be so “new”.

People shouldn’t be so soft. If you ask me, I was motivated to lock xp at “x” levels because I was destroyed in those bgs and wanted to combat it.

I’m not really referring to locking yourself into any exp as a whole. PVP is PVP however, I’m referring to those who lock themselves in a place where they know that the majority of those they’ll fight are new players or rerolls who are just leveling through.

It’s kind of like being an adult choosing to stay in the beginner course in your MMA class because you know everyone else is a kid and it’s easy pickings then telling those kids to “git gud.” No, not every person with your playstyle is like this but I would say most are. It’s that type of disruptive gameplay that causes the changes that create such fire.

I support the devs because its Blizzards game not ours. We choose to sub or not. If we dont like what they have done they lose money and gain it if we like it.

Dont get me wrong, if something is terribly wrong it’s our duty as a dedicated player base to help them move in the right direction. Their responses may not meet our expectations but at the very least when we unsub it can be with full confidence that you tried your best to help the WoW community by painting the picture for the devs.
They can read through the forums and figure out where they went wrong while they drink from the mugs filled with the unsubbed players tears. At the moment though they are still pretty thirsty I would say, so it’s going to be more of what they want. I support the forced xp decision. No complaints about that from me.
