Disabling XP Gains on 110+ Characters

Regardless of the decision being made or the merits of it, thanks for posting a change to the game on your own forums in blue. That’s a nice way to communicate with your players.

This blows my mind. I still dont understand why they seem to think that getting weaker as you level up is a good progression system.

Ive stopped raiding in BfA but im sitting around the 360 ilvl range and I still feel weaker fighting open world trash mobs than I did at 110. It feels so bbackwards to level up and get higher stats only to feel weaker because of a very broken scaling system.

The first stat squish was one of the worst things they have done to character progression in the game and further squishes just keep making it worse.

how will reckful abuse his way to 120 now?!
sad days :worried:

Leveling is more fun than endgame.

Subjective.

Also immersion and story.

Thats LOREMASTER Aehl, mate. Name me one zone I havent done all of. Ill save you the trouble. There isnt one.

See it all do it all more.

Do it all AGAIN you mean only slower.

No.

Getting weaker is something that has to happen, there is no way to keep getting stronger and stronger without also inflating the difficulty of the enemy.

Even if you kept getting stronger, so would the enemy, and the end result would be you feeling weaker. It is a necessary evil to make new content possible.

The actual issue is that 120 feels a lot worse than 110 compared to prior xpacs. What I mean by that is, 110 did not feel nearly this bad compared to 100 or 100 to 90, etc.

They messed up horribly this xpac, they took away too many things and did not add anything in to make up for it, the end result is extremely boring gameplay if you are 120.

110 is still fun but they are going to make sure you can’t enjoy that, apparently.

The problem comes once you’ve done all of the story 3-4 times, it no longer is fun and just becomes a chore, which is why people do everything to speed up the process on alts.

I love the story, I love reading books, but I don’t read the same book 10 times over and think it’s fun.

Ok, help an old guy out.
What issue are you referring to?
The original post regarding the change, the change of heart post where they stated they would think about it, the players who have yet to read that second post still posting concerns about the original post, or simply wanting to know why Blizzard came out of the blue with this particluar change at this point in the game?

You should probably try to find a way that makes clearing islands at 120 as fun as it is on a 110, right now they are just a complete slog on 120s.

Ugh, just prevent 110s from going into BfA dungeons if they have xp off…

Even though they came out with a post saying they are going to hold off on this change, they could still just use the stated ‘fix’ instead of thinking of a different one.

On top of that issue, even if they do find a new ‘fix’ it is most likely going to end up still hurting the players that like to stay lower level.

Even if he is right, leveling is usually only fun that first time.

It’s not as if there is “choice” … the leveling is experience is the same the 1st, 2nd, 3rd…12th time. This isn’t SWTOR or another Bioware game where you can make different decisions.

The Saurfang quest is supposedly the first time in its 14 year history. The DH’s sort of had something, but it was so inconsequential I forgot about it until I leveled another one.

So basically you are kicking around all of the players who don’t want to hit max level because they like the skills and abilities they have before the hit 116.

Smart move… Really smart move…

You know I wonder if anyone at blizzard acrale consider letting players scale back there charters level instead of denying them the ability to play at a certain level altogether.

Edit: Just saw the second post and am really hoping they don’t go through with this change. Just let players lock charters at the level they want them, I mean who cares if a few hardcore plays are overtwinking some content, the fact remains that you can’t do 120 content with your gear until you hit 120 yourself.

Why?

There has been absolutely no issue with this in the past, level 110s do not make dungeons harder to complete. All you are doing is taking away something people found to be fun, a way to enjoy an otherwise unenjoyable experience.

People did this for all of Legion and even a little bit in WoD, there was no problem with it then.

Yeah.
But that’s been done to death in this thread already.
I was merely replying to a reply to me with an inquiry to Aehl.

Fun police at it again, y’all should just fast forward this whole ruining the game thing and just port 8.2 to mobile, IOS only don’t wanna have people trying to make some fun mods on Android.

So you rather them just take away the option to disable xp altogether? 110 means you want to be locked in Legion content, not BfA. Just prevent them from doing BfA content with xp disabled.

Fun detected, destroyed. Don’t bother to fix the crappy scaling system, don’t you people have phones?

We most definitely have the C team running things now. This is just awful.

We warned Activision months ago that 110s being stronger than 120s and destroying level 120 content was stupid and is still stupid.

Scaling is not working for WoW which is supposed to be a MMORPG.

When will this scaling experiment end?

Not soon enough, even if it were tomorrow.
