Disabling XP Gains on 110+ Characters

I think it’s fine if people continue to drive home to blizz what a horrible idea this is.

So many things wrong with this game but this is top priority eh? Well, now we all see why it’s in the state its in…

Clearly it’s not Blizzard’s fault that Blizzard’s systems are garbage. It’s the player’s fault that Blizzard’s systems don’t work and it’s the player’s fault that the player has to find workarounds to make the clearly unbroken system work in a way that works for the player.

You could just fix the nightmare that is the balance issues and other issues with level/mob scaling. This does one hell of a job highlighting that a 110 is more powerful than any other until 120 and fresh BfA gear.

To be quite frank… the fact that they seriously even considered this as an option is disheartening. It shows a lack of understanding of their own gaming community and all the different facets of the game we enjoy.

You guys might want to runs ideas past “normal players” a little more often just to keep yourselves grounded.

Which I sorta guess is what you did here… kinda. Anyway, thanks for at least backpedaling on the decision. Shows you aren’t completely a lost cause.

The real problem is is that this is the inverse of legion ilev scaling where you could remove gear and be more powerful.

They actually apologized for that and said under no circumstance should this game be designed to remove gear and be more powerful. Instead of removing gear you just turn your leveling off.

The result is them same and this is antithetical to the entire idea of this kind of game. Ilev scaling will never work. They did it so they wouldn’t have to work as hard at developing content.

It’s as simple as the fact that they no longer want to do the work it takes to earn the money. I wonder how many folks were unsubscribing in the short 4 hours it took them to reverse this decision.

What concerns me more is it now a given that they will not do the work it takes so any other solution will be just as bad if not worse than what they decided to do today.

The devaluing of their stock reflects what investors think of a company that won’t do the work. I wonder how it feels to create content that loses your company 100’s of millions in annual revenue and now much more than that in devalued stock.

Glad to see the EU forum was as happy about this as we were… here’s my favorite comment from their thread…

You guys should do this more often. I mean, post things you plan on doing so that the players can give feedback on them before you up and do them. One big step toward better communication, even if the initial decision is still made rather than reverted.

The GCD changes is a great example of this. Edit: Azerite too, holy schnikes was any of the feedback about that during Alpha/Beta even processed? There were zero blue replies on those forums about Azerite.

And no, I’m not implying that the devs need to listen to all the gripes of the players but engaging your community should be a step in the process, IMHO.

111-119 xp should be forced back on. 110’s with xp off get instanced into 110 only BfA and cannot queue for BfA content unless they turn xp back on.
110 battlegrounds since unique to only 110’s should be xp off vs xp off and xp on vs xp on. kinda like the old system of players who have no prestige levels got paired with those that have no prestige levels.

Ythisens

Im going to say what you and others probably dont want to hear:

Had we kept more of our artifact weapon traits.

Had the levelling been better designed.

If the scaling is fixed then maybe.

BUT

Ill give you one solid example of where you are failing on 110-120

As a caster: levelling, you go from 15 % haste to maybe 5. Gear itemisation is bad. Gear drops are bad. Gear QUALITY is bad. No 2ndary stats io three pieces of gear.

Why do people want to stay at 110?

Because at 120 your toon is a shell of itself, haste starved and getting gear with mastery and VERSATILITY on it. Getting gear for the wrong SPEC for gods sake.

If I set my loot to that spec then thats what I should get. My ret pally set my loot spec to prot and got a HOLY shield.

The entire system needs a drastic overhaul.

Slow levelling isnt fun and yes Ythisens, at 120 you ARE weaker and there is a massive power drop off. Gear design, class design, weapon drops…its all a mess.

The fact that it was considered shows that they didn’t even think about the implications to people who turn off xp for other reasons.

People turn off xp at 110 to complete legion content at lv110

People turn off xp at 119 to twink in the lv119 battleground bracket.

I’m sure there’s other reasons that people turn off xp. Whenever a game company notices an issue that should get fixed you need to consider everyone it affects. I’m fine with them making it so that you can’t que for expeditions if you have xp turned off, just don’t make turning xp off impossible for those who want to do it for other reasons.

Who knows, maybe this is the start of the new and improved better communication?

One can only hope right?

I’d hope so. This is the kind of stuff CMs should be doing on a regular basis, at least to me.

To be perfectly frank given that they no longer want to do the work they should just cancel the game and be done with it.

Y’all are working real hard at messing up real bad.

like trolling levelers in battlegrounds. there is no other reason to twink 119… if the interest is 119 twink vs twink then request xp off be paired with xp off again. See how interested the twink community at that level are in being paired against teams of equal footing.

why don’t you use the “data” to start fixing classes at 120, so people DON’T have to lock their XP at 110 to enjoy this :poop: expansion?

With the new format of these forums they do get the gist of what their player base thinks and feels about stuff almost instantaneously.

If nothing good comes of the xp nerf, this very thread could be.

azerite pieces make them extremely powerful, many 110-119 prior to patch 8.1 are able to grind AzP into the high 20’s to 30 and on patch 8.1 you made the problem worse, in making it account wide. you have a 120 with 45 level AzP on neck, your twink has it too now.

in legion they were 98, 99, and 101 twinks, but they could only gain AP at a insane low rate. imagine if you did a patch in legion that made concordance account wide? or a high AP rate like BFA has with AzP?

if DEVs weren’t playing phone games, and focusing on phones (more or less your words) they would see trade chat on servers

this trend started in Legion with 101’s carrying players thru dungeons. now in BFA i see 120 level players buying 4-6 minute runs from level 110-111 players.

i made a comment long ago (one of my players) about why was there a 110 only BG bracket? especially when you have legion left overs in it, and BFA 110’s in god mode. maybe to punish those who have not bought BFA?

DEVs can insta make a 110, nothing azerite, and que into a BG.

I started typing up something constructive about what you should think about during your discussion to reconsider this change and just realized it doesn’t matter. You clearly have your own set of priorities that are often not in line with customer priorities, so I’m going to stop fooling myself into thinking we’re making a difference by trying to work with you.

You keep running your game how you want and we’ll give you simpler feedback with our subscriptions.
