So real talk. Not to be putting anyone down or anything and i know we all have different preferences.
But at what point does the difficulty rule out the fun? And i ask this because i see so many of these “too hard its not fun any more” type of thread.
Okay. Theres different difficulties. In the world of m+, if 7s are too hard and punishing, whats wrong with sticking it out in 5s and 6s?
If Mythic progression raiding is too much of a hassle, why not keep Heroic of farm and enjoy yourself. Heck bring an alt through and see the raid from another perspective.
I also see the argument “this is a video game, i play this to relax, not treat it like a second job”. And this also circles back to my main point: okay, so why not sit in a level of enjoyment?
What triggers in your brain that compels you to leave that comfort zone, realize you dont like it and where you were before was fine and dandy…and then keep trying to push into a difficulty that saps all the fun away?
I personally dont mind challenges. I like being able to improve. At the same time i realize theres available content that i may not complete. People are already punching into 13s and 14s. I’ll be lucky to clear 12s this season. And thats fine. 10-11 may be my sweet spot.
So wheres the cut off where its just hard and no longer fun? And why are so many people hellbent on going into the un-fun country?
That’s extremely subjective - person to person, even day to day or character to character. There are limits to what the devs can do other than to offer options. To some extent it comes down to us to know ourselves and find our own plateau for whatever mood we’re in.
It’s why I don’t play souls-like games. They make me mad so I stick to easier games. Sure I could play something harder, but I wouldn’t have fun with it.
It’s not always easy. I feel I have pretty high self-awareness of my likes, dislikes and limits, but I’m still figuring out how I’ll interact with delves.
Let’s not forget we’re coming off the much easier seasons 3+4 of DF. That’s what a lot of players came into this season expecting, and they’re getting a hard reality check.
people who are enjoying themselves don’t post here and people who don’t , rant here. for the difficulty part , i think it’s a social issue plus people rushing to the end wanting to skip steps. these two elements are pugging instead of forming organized groups plus people desiring mythic gear in m7. people spend months in dark souls games banging their heads on bosses but the online crowd has different mentality . you put five people in a group and they individually think that they are the best players in the world and they deserve every loot. all in all , best solution is to skip the forums
Right. But if you decide theyre not for you, are you going to keep doing them and just come complain about how much you dislike them? Or you gonna do content you enjoy instead?
Understandable. But thats all arbitrary. Play at a level thats enjoyable. The numbers are placeholders that change season to season and xpac to xpac
I’m not going to be completely silent. I don’t expect other people with different opinions to be completely silent. It’s part of the natural feedback to talk about what itches.
No. What will happen is we see a significant drop in subscriptions, as other games more respectful of the customer’s time are being released every month and most don’t even require a monthly subscription to be told they’re not good enough because they’re not in the top 5% every single time they log on.
WoW is a big tent and people have a myriad of in game goals, or no goals.
i try to set goals for myself that are challenging. I also like to mix it up.
in the m+ world, I like to get 2k score on a toon (I usually start with tank) and then go grab another toon.
looking at the crest system right now, I will probably do that with my guardian, and then farm enough +4s to get ~619 ilevel. i’m not a “get the portals” guy. after that, i will bomb around with my next toon. not sure yet if that will be another tank or healer or dps.
Never asked anyone to be silent. But asking for nerfs or changes when they can simply choose to play what they enjoy just doesnt make sense
Ah, youre the exact kind of person id like to clarify this.
Why do you feel the need for the game to be dumbed down to you? Game had multiple versions, multiple difficulties. One im sure you fit into somewhere. Why do you feel the need to have the game brought down to a point where you can complete all of it with minimal effort?
Whats wrong with playing in a level youre comfortable with?
