Difficulty fighting thunder

Hey there, I’ve been doing some more 3s as of late. Generally the games have gone pretty well, but whenever I fight thunder (ele/warrior) it feels like anyone can die at any moment, even outside of cds. Like, I’ll get hit for 50-60% of my hp what feels like randomly, whether a tempest crit, execute proc, or anything else.

What’s the best strategy to beat this comp?

I mainly play ret/dh

Mash that dispel button on flameshock. Full gas pedal on dispelling flameshock.

Only do this when they cast primdorial wave.

Otherwise you are just feeding the ele free damage on a dot with a 3 sec cd that they can aoe apply.

Really isn’t one.

Thunder are dampeners, and atm warrior is a king of both sides of the coin in dampening. If they have an rdruid you’d kinda SOOL, but it’s still possible. Vs rdruid, you swap off hots between the DPS, maybe do some setup goes on the druid. Otherwise in almost every single iteration of the matchup you gaspedal the ele and look for opportunities to kill any target that doesn’t have a trinket.

And don’t listen to this idiocy. The only other thing to dispel outside of flame shock in this matchup is roots, which as a ret cleave shouldn’t be an issue. Save a dispel when prim goes out, but you can freely let it rip on flame shocks between those to slow down the ele pressure.

Your comp doesn’t really have ways to prevent a warrior from w keying you, so unless you play with a healer that can do that (e.g. rsham) you’re kinda boned. Whoever’s getting shot may just need to kite a bit more between goes. It’s also worth it to look at playing cheese builds vs thunder a bit more since the comp is just genuine aids to play against.
