Use the crafting system and the inscription stat fixer if they’re not too expensive. Look for cheap patterns on the AH so you can make your own and maybe 1-2 more to recoup costs and pick stats. You can probably get by with some pve pieces just replace those first.
I am just going to buy a token and get all the gear, hopefully its enough to not get one shot.

I started out my prevoker in greens and pve, but meta has shifted since then. Stay back, scatter the warrior and run when he charges. I think you’ll be fine, you’re experienced and it’s only new players who can’t be undergeared and useful. (Raist)
To be fair on a positive note I am having fun with the class I am playing and I personally seem to be doing well.

I had no idea about stocking up on honor so that’s just a bonus. Don’t wpvp much till I have a little gear and had no clue about crafted gear until a few days after I hit max level. All my honor gear was strictly obtained through epics and their quests and the brawl quest once a week. An epic win alone for the first win is over 1k honor.

Perhaps the disconnect is because it is not always available.
The one currently available (in the picture) is not the one I am talking about, but this is how you access it from the Player vs Player tab after pressisng “i” to open the UI.
The literal name of the Battleground I am referring to is: Brawl: Comp Stomp
After checking the calender, it looks to be coming back on the 21st of March, so that’s two weekly resets from now.
I have listed the next two types of Brawls coming up, the second one is the one against AI.
14th March reset - Brawl: Gravity Lapse (Against players, in EotS but with a twist)
21st March reset - Brawl: Comp Stomp (Against a purely AI enemy team in AB)
Only the Comp Stomp is against AI. All other Brawls are regular BG’s against other players, but have different conditions to normal for a bit of fun.
Hopefully this clears it up.
If you want to start grinding honour straight away, your best bet is Random Epic Battlegrounds. Jump in a vehicle/cannon… or hide in the crowd.

Ok so final update: No its actually not possible.
No RBG team wants a 411 damage dealer I tried for 2 days to get him into ANY RBG.
Sorry but OP is right, unless you started at the beginning of the season, the most you can get is honor gear. Anyone here is more than welcome to try and prove me wrong with screenshots.

Everybody already did that a long time ago, lol.
I hit 70 about a month ago, before they removed the CP cap. If anything, it’s easier now.

Yeah, you’re not really viable for that type of play with just honor and the CP from randoms isn’t enough even with the weeklies to do much gearing before next expansion. I just started my alliance MM in honors and greens at 70 and he is fine in randoms, don’t look at the damage look how many kills I stole. We’ll see how horde dps queues are if I decide to stay, horde healer queues were not fun.

I mainly did solo shuffle randoms and epics/brawls. All the weekly quests. Filling your vault is essential as it’s gear each Tuesday. There’s some nice quests in epics.

well i do believe honor gear is really easy to obtain but conquest gear on the other hand can be really frustrating to get definitely if your a casual player and if your just starting out or have multiple alts or dont have good team or friend you can play with , your gonna have a bad time.

…i really dont want to say I dont believe you because you are the only other one actually geared and not hiding your profile…but these suggestions seem like they would take till the end of the season.
Epics dont even give that much conquest IF you win.
Right now I’m going to test and see if normal honor gear is enough for just normal battlegrounds. My whole thing is I want to be able to just play alts
