Did they fix the Nvidia flicker? Should I update my driver?

I’m getting a warning from blizz that my video card is out of date and of course it is because a bunch of Nvidia users had to roll back to a previous version because of horrible texture flickering.

Just wondering if they ever fixed that problem and if I can update safely or if I will have to roll back to the old one again?

Not sure if they fixed it but my fix is turning resolution scaling from 200% to 100%.

nVidia claimed they fixed it, and after finally updating the driver after eight months I have not yet noticed that godawful skimmering, so it seems like the problem has been fixed. With no one accepting blame, of course.

Blizzard and Nvidia:

One of us only tells the truth and one of us only lies!

I think of that Spider-Man meme where they are pointing at each other.

Yes, the 470 series drivers have it listed as fixed, and I haven’t experienced it since upgrading.

There is an update currently

I updated my driver a few days ago and it resolved the flickering issue.

I thought it was just me.

I can see the steps of the Stormwind bank flickering when I turn my camera toward it while standing in front of the auction house.

I’ve never experienced the flickering issue maybe it’s because I only have a 1680

Same here. I actually forgot all about it.

Crap, did I put my settings back on max to test it out? I forget.

For me it was certain pieces of armor, as well as environment, and it was quite seizure-inducingly bad. The fix was to roll back to a previous version 8 months ago, but let’s see if the latest update fixes it.

it’s fixed

If Nvidia’s newest drivers fixed the issue, then the problem was with Nvidia, not Blizzard, since not everyone was affected.

Pretty sure it was on nvidia’s end. They had it as a known issue on their driver notes for months.

Hey Luup, I can confirm that the most recent Nvidia driver did in fact fix the flicker. It was in the driver’s notes, actually. I finally updated mine (I had been using the last stable driver from back in December) and I have yet to encounter any issues.

actually nice the game warns you about outdated drivers rather than letting you enter and have a bad time, most games dont do that.

Oh so I have a Nvidia graphics card as well. How do I go about updating it? I don’t have the GeForce Experience thing that auto-updates. Should I download the latest driver from the Nvidia site, then uninstall my current video card drivers and then install the latest version? That’s what I used to do to make sure that it was a like a “fresh” installation or whatever but I am not sure if that is how the rest of you guys do it.

ANNNNDDDDDDD… with 9.1 it’s back, just not as bad. So I’m sure nVidia snuck in there during the patch and screwed things up again, because Blizzard couldn’t be to blame.
