Did the monthly sub cost increase?

I just noticed i was charged $16.00 by Blizz this month. Did sub fee go up?

No, but a majority of the states are now charging Sales Tax for internet purchases as of Jan 1st

No, but your state is probably charging taxes now; that went into effect on January 1st for a lot of places. You’ll want to hit up your state government to find out.

No, our subscription rate hasn’t changed since World of Warcraft launched in 2004. As the others pointed out though, some states charge tax and if there was any change in how your state handles things, it likely would be kicking in this month.

Where are you looking, Sherimoon? Looking at this account, you haven’t yet been charged for a subscription this month. Your subscription was billed on 12/20 and won’t be up for renewal until 1/20. I don’t show any purchases after the 12/20/18 subscription payment and it doesn’t look like tax was added to that.

Same thing happened to me. I got a $16 charge to my account. Noticed it and was mad I didn’t get any notification.
If you live in NC online sales tax was mandated November 1st but didn’t apply till the new year. Government sucks but what can you do.

@Thundetotem it should be illegal for states to take taxes from online services.

Then you’ll want to petition the Federal government.

I’m not the government, Tax laws was changed is all I know. You need to complain to your State. Not sure why you singled me out?

But it isn’t, and that is what happened here. Not sure what your post is actually for here.

on what basis?

The US Supreme Court says otherwise.

And I don’t recommend getting into an off-topic argument about judicial review, unless you want the thread locked down for unproductivity.

You would get a different argument from the brick and mortar stores in your community who had to charge more for an item to collect sales tax than the same item purchased online would cost.

Back in the 90’s, the US government made a conscious decision to not allow the states to collect sales tax on online items unless the company had a physical presence in the state.
The intent of the law was to encourage the development of online sales.
20 years later, that goal has been accomplished so there was no need for a sales tax exemption any longer and the US government now allows states to collect it.

The ability to post a link, which isn’t on an approved list, is based on trust levels.

It is the new year, many states that previously did not charge tax on those kinds of purchases have started at the beginning of the year. Unfortunately, I don’t have a reference to whatever account you are referring to, but I would assume that would be the case here.

I knew that, but thought i had that level. Do we lose it for not posting all the time? i took a break

but theres the info you asked for, thanks

No.

But it’s a character-specific level, not account-wide. I’m not sure what level it is, but I’m fairly certain it’s TL3.

Which you’re currently 17k read posts shy of on this character, barring other requirements.

20k. You’ve already read a little over 3k.

Chances are high they were MVPs. They started right at TL3.
