oh so you think having your armory linked is the shaming bit. I don’t raid or PvP either and I am not ashamed of that.
as for that poster being problematic, consider this. This thread is about tier sets which are for people who do that content. That poster already made a thread on their issue with the nightborne but linked that thread in this thread to take the issue away from the tier set and make it about characters.
I definitely don’t blame anyone on the art team for anything like this. This is on the company itself for making decisions like this. I’m not sure if it’s the wow’s game director and his team or if he’s being told by even higher ups to do this. Whoever made this decision is exactly why Blizzard is in the state it’s in.
Literally every patch ever has people calling the newest gear appearances trash. Even Legion tier sets were being called trash by people.
I think it’s just a natural response from people disappointed that the newest appearances aren’t what they want to use. It’s impossible to create gear appearances that every player will enjoy, and I can certainly see why the newest gear appearance might not appeal to people because of how uniformly-themed the appearances are to Zareth Mortis specifically.
It’s also been so long since they’ve done tier sets, so naturally there’s going to be a lot of disappointment that there aren’t going to be Warlock or Death Knight sets like ones that have been done in the past. People are itching for new takes on class-themed sets. Hopefully the return of class sets for 9.2 isn’t going to be a one-off thing.
AH! Clarity.
I look at gear as just gear, idc about class identity so I’m not thinking about that, all I’m thinking about is if it looks good yes or no.
Cash shop gear doesn’t look good to me, tier gear does.
This is totally not a comment one way or the other on 9.2 visual optioptions, i will say, I do not envy the people that have to come up with new designs several times every expac for almost two decades now. At a certain point reskins are the only way you’re going to get something that isn’t so drastically different it doesn’t feel like it belongs in the game.
Honestly, it’s better design than some before it. I don’t complain on some of the designs in game because that’s on the eye of the beholder.
These match the theme of the game but looking at the two you presented one does seem to have more flair than the other and this is what some find offensive and ask,“Why couldn’t we have that ?”
Complaining about the subjective nature of tier set art is so 7 or 8 years ago. But I guess it’s better then some of the other posts that are currently flooding the forums.
Ok in my book the art team gets the same amount of slack I have already given the Devs. They used one with this. They still have a 49 more fails to go before they catch up.
Yea, I agree with you op. The sets do not portray the classes at all. The weapons are poorly done. Like many have already said, the entire tier looks like fancy questing greens.
I mean if you look at my transmog I’m not wearing any spikes or skulls so that’s not really what I care about. However the Sanctum of Domination sets look far better than ANY of these tier sets. For it being tier, none of them represent the class they are for very well at all, besides maybe Shaman and Hunter, and even then you have to look close because every single set it the same color scheme.
I don’t think I’ve every really had complaints about the art, and I was around when Ulduar was a thing, and usually its up to par. However it looks like the same person spent about 5 minutes each designing these sets and has 0 feedback from anyone else on the team. Bringing back tier should be a big thing and the only big feeling I get looking at this stuff is disappointment.
I mean yeah, then 50% or so of your staff just walks out you can expect cuts in quality… no matter what industry you’re in. However… silently steals the raid scythe when no one is looking
