Disney had to close up and almost went completely bankrupt as a business.
They re-opened with predetermined rules and are flourishing again. They’re never at-capacity or anywhere close to it right now, but they’re making-do.
If Blizzard Entertainment actually wanted to, they could have held a crowdless Blizzcon and given us a real demonstration like the past Blizzcons. They could have even dedicated the empty seats to the players who are at home with COVID, or who passed away thanks to COVID, and that would have been more than acceptable in my eyes as an ‘excuse’ for the empty room.
The fact of the matter is: Blizzard Entertainment could have done A LOT more, and A LOT better than they did. They settled for the absolutely bare minimum that I or you could have come up with as a school freaking project in a week’s time.

Small indie company. Y’all act like this was 30 years or something. They’re running this out of Ion’s garage.

…yeah, it is pretty sad. Can’t believe that they hung their hat on this as their 30th year blizzcon. What a disgrace.

it was pretty awful SO much padding very little actual content , god so many strung out pointless conversations, lots of repeats, lots of lets rewattch this again etc etc god it was bad.

I wouldn’t call them anything special either. Unless the mega dungeon does something special like not being a mythic+ dungeon and be more about exploring and collecting treasures and such off the beaten path, similar to the scenario in Thunder isle where you have to collect treasure before time runs out and how Blackrock depths worked.

Honestly I think I did as good on a project I only worked on for a weekend…so really less than a week for a college assignment…MAYBE a week for a Highschool or lower grade assignment…
EDIT: (It was on the horrors of Medieval medicine by the way, did you know your barber could also be your butcher, doctor, dentist, and eye surgeon? Didn’t even use different blades for these different things either…also the doctor prescribed cannibalism!)

Am I the only one who felt something is wrong with Ion. I mean his face…something felt switched off

Having faction/race/class distinctions adds complexity, variety and flavor to the game.

It was not as big and grand as blizzcon but what did you expect? It was free and done entirely online. I think they did okay with what they could do.
I was ok with the info we got on the next patch and the OW2 section was amazing. Totally looking forward to OW2. Overall I was satisfied with what I saw from a free covid-effected Blizzcon.

Easily pleased you’re. No excuses for a SO CALLED BILLION COMPANY.
It’s like when you’re dying of dehydration and someone hands you dirty toilet water because the sink/faucet was a few yards further than the toilet. I guess we should be saying thank you they bothered at all, but…

Padded and sad is a pretty succinct way to put it. That was essentially my feelings.
Also, I wish they could have separated Classic and Live more, it’s like grandma moving in so now you need to share your room with your brother.

I do feel excited for Diablo 2. I sincerely hope they don’t repeat the mistakes that were made during WC3 reforged
I still want to know what they were supposed to even talk about.
Like, yeah. It’s going to be classic again, except this time TBC. Here are the patches, this is how you preserve your characters. What else is there to say beyond that?

As with every BlizzCon, I enjoyed the fan content and contests. I found myself really hoping Bolvar cosplay would win, and truly had my breath held for a moment when winners were revealed. It was also pretty cool to see some of the fan music from other countries - not just in talent, but demonstrating how the Blizzard universe bridges cultures around the world.
I do feel the voice actor panel was far too COVID heavy and felt like efforts towards a support group. But, you know what? Maybe there are many out there who needed to hear they aren’t alone in the many struggles of changing times.
I do feel that Ion appeared less than his historic, charismatic self - but look around us. I personally don’t know a single person in business or personal life that isn’t struggling with some level of mental wellness during this pandemic.
I’ve been on the fence with my subscription, waiting on BlizzCon to provide insight and hope, and I’ll be honest and say that I will renew another 6 months, but not because of BlizzCon…
Last week, several notable balance efforts were being made and presented to the community or data lines via wowhead. Surely it is not nearly enough (so far), and my main classes and specs were barely touched on, but here’s where my hope in Blizzard rekindled:
Not only did they rollback some changes for various specs and covenants, but they actually implemented subtle changes the community requested. They have shown they are swallowing some pride and are ready to listen. Maybe theyll continue to do so over the next 6 months.
But it’s there in the data mining. It’s hope.

As a seasoned software engineer myself, I know what it looks like when a team throws together a demo because the actual project is months behind schedule…
And it looks like Blizzconline 2021

I didn’t say I was particularly pleased. I thought all the panels were pretty boring and too much time was wasted talking about covid and non wow things.
But again, it was free.
