Killed over 30 voidwalkers in HP… not one mote of shadow. Flew over to the fire elementals in SMV, no motes of fire.
Maybe if it was very recently? It was raining motes when I was farming the VW’s
So, maybe I spoke too soon on the mote of fires cause they seem fine now… just a string of bad luck. But I am convinced something was nerfed with voidwalkers in HP.
Why do you farm shadows from the ones in hellfire?

Need lvl 70+ Monsters for the motes chance to jump up.
The drop rate from the low level elementals has always been very low. Killing 30 of them and not seeing a single mote of shadow is hardly surprising. Furthermore, even killing higher level mobs isn’t guaranteed and you can drop tons of them without getting many at all. RNG is RNG.
Rates appear to be between 25-33% for the highest mobs, so even if you killed a dozen of the highest fire elementals, there’s a high likelihood you’d only get ONE mote from them all. It isn’t like the game has some fail mechanism like it supposedly does with quest drops, you could just keep hitting that 67% chance of failure every time for many many many mobs.

There’s tons of them in nagrand too and they have the highest drop rate. The ones in nagrand aren’t 68.
I have killed in excess of 20-25 voidwalker mobs in Voidridge and seen a total of ZERO motes drop.
Screw that place.
I got 3 primals with like 40 minutes of farming, they do still rain from the heavens.
Watched a vid of a guy who did 5 hours in void ridge.
