Its not a race. There is not a finish line. As long as you are having fun, you are winning.
Dont worry about being behind, or what other people are doing. I had a 60 warrior I was raiding with and got burnt out too. Now I’m loving hunter. I started a month after classic released on this character. I have Rhok.
When you start doesnt matter. Find something thats fun, and you’ll want to play rather than feel obligated to.
Bgs aren’t released yet… so are we talking about a level 18 lock on retail?
You clearly don’t watch enough Monkeynews on YouTube lol
That’s a good point. So your warrior isn’t on classic?
I thought I’d like a hunter because I had one from TBC onward and I like the idea of the easy and quicker (not that it’s short) grind to 60…it just doesn’t sit well for me, again kinda like the warrior in that I love the idea of it, the gear, etc… but when I’m actually on it I find it mind numbing.
I play warriors for control, namely in tanking. The only things they lack are PvP utility and limitless AoE. If you’re willing to tank, there’s groups by the dozen that need you.
Classic/Vanilla is super primitive in tanking, and sadly that doesn’t become amazing until WotLK, but the crux of it is that you’re still a fairly flexible class that can fill a critical role.
Contrary to popular belief, warriors aren’t bad farmers once they get a bit of gear. People like to compare them to mages (broken as sin) and pet classes, but you can still chain kill almost on Indalamar levels once you have some gear.
In all of his vids he either outgears the opposition and/or is backed up by a healer.
Warriors are the weakest class in the game. They have to be draped in magical gear like an emperor and / or have a mana using class helping them to do anything.
Not to mention that he is almost always fully buffed. For a guy who is supposedly so great, he still has not understand how to play warrior vs certain classes. And its almost 15 years after the fact.
All classes, but especially Warrior and Paladin, hit a bit of a speedbump in the 40-50 post-SM range and things slow down a bit. It takes more xp to level, things are more spread out across the world, skills are expensive, dungeons are a little more tricky/tedious and harder to find groups for.
If you’re having second thoughts or losing momentum, it’s probably a good idea to try out another class for a bit and see. You may discover a new main, or you may rediscover your interest in the warrior. Sometimes the break is enough to rekindle your momentum.
Don’t stress over what other people are doing, what level they are, etc. Just enjoy your time in the game, and try to do what makes you happy as a player.
If/when you decide to press on, try to find activities that give decent xp/gold, but are also things you enjoy doing or are in zones you like. Don’t fixate on the 15-odd levels you need, just try to break off little chunks that you can finish and build on. A few bars of xp, a quest hub/chain, one outing at a time. Try to take that time to learn more about your abilities, refine your rotations. Learn more about the zones and locations of things. Try different zones.
I try to keep an eye out for cheap deals on AH gear, and sometimes that helps to have a piece of gear waiting for you when you hit the next level, even if it’s a small upgrade.
There are going to be times, no matter which character you main, when you’ll have these moments of doubt. It may feel like some other class is better than the one you chose. They are all good choices.
If you are playing a warrior, in my opinion, you should spend some time tanking, as there are several tanking utilities that are useful in the warrior kit, but that’s just my opinion. I’d feel the same about the various playstyles available to a druid.
One thing that I particularly like about warriors is that they do not deal with down ranking skills, but there are trade-offs for that, including obviously having some skills only available in certain stances.
Nah bro you got it! Once you hit 49-50 you can start doing BRD and get some BiS DPS:) you’re really close!! Keep pushing!
Then you get rest of your BIS from stratholme, scholomance, LBRS, UBRS ETC YOU CAN DO ET
Golds still hard to come by, but once you get your first epic BOE it’ll be a lot easier:) also gold is only really needed to buy the lionheart helm, which is yes expensive but if you keep playing and find friends they’ll probably give you a huge discount:)
I’ve always looked at that post-SM levelling hump as something that exists at least partially by design, especially for Warriors.
You’ve got this class that at endgame has the potential to be the best tank and the best dps, without relying on magic and without necessarily being beholden to any particular RP/lore entity or source of power. You don’t need mana or energy; as long as you can keep fighting you have an infinite rage resource that just comes from hitting and being hit.
For the past 20-some levels, you’ve been Mr. Charge-Intercept, I can tank or dps, watch me cleave, big tough guy. You just stomped SM and came out loaded with gear. You’ve got a mount and can now use all armor types. You’ve been fed a steady stream of great weapons (Ravager, Bonebiter, Whirlwind, etc). You’ve learned an arsenal of abilities that allow you to physically control melee combat encounters. You basically have a spot in every group.
When you spawn as a Level 1 Warrior, while everyone else has one or two fancy spells, you can pretty much only hit, hit hard, and be hit. What allows you to progress and continue? Drive, perseverance, aggression, strength, stamina, teamwork.
Now you’re looking up at the level cap coming within sight, but they’re not going to just give it to you. You have to fight for it and take it.
You should take this to heart:
As a Warrior, you exist as a living, breathing refutation and counterpoint to this view, so you should know for yourself why you are who you are, or if that is what you want to be.
I can solo farm better than most classes, even as a tank. Almost zero downtime and superfast kills. I have to wait my charge cd and I can even take 2 or 3 mobs at once. I can take down elites, can escape from dangerous situations…
If you don’t like theorycraft, warrior ain’t for you. If you don’t have the patience to endure leveling a warrior, you might not have what it takes to gear him out.
But once you do, it’s god tier
Levelling a Warrior can be rough. You really have to keep ahead of the level of quests you are doing otherwise you just end up spending a lot of time eating or bandaging.
It can be rough at times, especially if you group with people for a bit and run out of green quests to complete solo.
My advice try different classes and see which one you fall in love with then around lvl 20 do some end game research. You might end up loving a meme spec just be sure you accept it before investing any more time since it’s the point of no return.
Find a healer. It’s a match made in heaven for both of you. Whether you are spamming dungeons (which can still be done in dps spec) or questing/grinding crap.
This is how I felt when I started playing Classic too. My friends got me into it. I chose priest as my first class, and struggled with wanting to play it. It felt really 2 dimensional. *Wand - wand - wand -wand - “oh, dot fell off - wand - wand”. It got better once I hit 40, and I could do the “Shadow Priest” thing. But it just felt like a chore just to log in. So I played around with other classes, and finally fell in love with Hunter, and now I can’t stop playing. I think it’s finding the class you REALLY want to play.
