Did I do anything wrong

So I was running classic dungeons playing on my level 61 character. I don’t know if anyone has done this but if you level lock at 61 you can actually solo classic dungeons pretty easily.
But I wanted to play with other players so I jumped into the dungeon finder.

What I do when I’m running a character like that is I will watch my DPS and make sure that it falls below the top DPS before I attack so I’m not taking the fun out of the run for everybody else.

So I’ll do a couple small attacks and if I get above the top DPS on damage I’ll back off until I fall below the top so that I’m like number two or even number three.

But there was a run yesterday where it seemed like they just wanted to speed run through the entire thing. I mean the tank was pulling way more than he could handle and I thought okay we’re going to do a speed run here so I just opened up started doing as much damage as I could do which obviously with a twink you’re probably going to be doing a lot more damage than the rest of the group

Well after about a minute and a half I noticed that the tank and one of the DPS had left the group
So I scroll back up through chat to see if I could figure out what had happened and the tank had left kind of a rude response up there not nasty but it literally said rude or something like that

So I figured that he was upset about me doing all that damage maybe but I couldn’t figure out why that would be the case if they were wanting to do a speed run I thought that maybe playing on a twink I would make the run go faster.

It seemed to be what they wanted to do so I thought well cool let’s go with it.
But then the tank and one of the DPS leave and it left me wondering what exactly was going on

You are doing a version of twinking. Twinking is always griefing.

You may have been trying to hide it but you were doing it.

Obviously that group didn’t want a carry.

Ignore the other response.

Twinking is fine. Sometime people are just sooks.

At the end of the day more damage is good damage.

Yeah I evidently that was the case. I just can’t tell the difference between the ones that want to do a speed run or the ones that are just trying to see how much they can pull and not wipe LOL

Definitely not going to do it again I just was curious what everyone thought in here about the situation

How exactly?

Because you play the game in a way they don’t like, and that makes you the bad guy for not letting the world revolve around them.

I usually try to read the group as to whether they are wanting to do a speed run or if everybody just wants to play it slow and I’m good with either one. I don’t want to disrupt the fun of everybody else.

It’s a team effort and I want everybody to play how they are comfortable with.
Just seem like they were really wanting to do this thing fast and I thought well if we want to do it fast I’m on the character for that lol.
I didn’t realize that somebody was upset until the tank disappeared and I noticed the rude thing in the chat box.

Not the end of the world I’m just not going to do that again I was just curious

Turning off experience with the goal of overpowering content.

not usually with me.
I have a lot of alts that are locked at levels that arent any more powerful than any others, they cant touch twinks on damage.
But I also have a few 61’s that I like to solo classic dungeons with…just a little resistance…not one shotting anything and Ive nearly died a few times with those alts in classic runs.
So I have both kinds of alts XP locked…twink and non twink.

How is twinking always griefing lmao

Most people in this game appreciate a toon that comes in and can help speed them along to max level. People who get mad at this are usually classic andy types or returning players who don’t understand the game anymore.

Anyone had a Twinkie in the last decade?

Just wondering how they have held up.

A twinkie from a decade ago is most likely in the same condition now as it was10 years ago.

yeah, my thoughts were with that was I can run the locked 61 and IF things get hairy I can make sure we dont wipe…which is what I have been doing…just pumping out extra DPS as needed if the tank pulls too much.
Just this time they really seemed to send out signals that thye wanted to speed run.

I’ll say this, though…the healer and the other DPS in that run seemed to love it. They hung with me and we ended up running a few more dungeons together…5 or 6 runs…but I did back down on the DPS for the rest of them so not to ruin the other two players who joined us.
Overall it was a fun day other than that one dungeon

I knew this was coming

The differentiator is the goal of overpowering content.

As with everything there are exceptions to the rule but when someone is in group content with xp turned off they almost always are gaming the system to the detriment of others.

No everyone wants a carry.

How come you don’t just blow up the dungeon? It’s very weird to throttle your dps like that. Nobody actually cares about that, and if they do they can leave.

You should have seen mop remix with the level 20 twinks soloing dungeons in two minutes. What a great time.

Yeah but most do. Those that don’t want it can leave and pout in a corner somewhere.

I dont like disrupting the game for the group. If they want to speed thru it, thats fine. But theres often new players in classic runs too that are trying to learn the game. Burning everything down doesnt help them learn to play.

Gearing yourself at 80 to overpower content is also gReIfInG then.
