Did Elune save Tyrande?

So as we know, the Banshee B!+%* is all hopped up on Jailor juice making her possibly one of the most powerful living creatures and since the start of BFA and probably SL, she’s only gotten stronger. As we saw, Night Warrior Tyrande handled her with no trouble. However, I am wondering that in order to wipe out such a powerful being as Sylvanas is now, it would have required a lot more power. Power that Tyrande as the Night Warrior has but would come at a cost…her life.

Tyrande is favored by Elune and is one of her most powerful High Priestess’, possibly more powerful than her predecessors. This is why I think is the Night Warrior ritual worked for her where others have died. So is the reason that at the final moment where Tyrande was about to end Sylvanas that Elune pulled back because she was didn’t want her chosen daughter to die? Is this the reason why Tyrande was not able to kill Sylvanas, and thus have the Night Warrior’s power claim her life as is did all the others? As Tyrande said right at the end in Darnassian, “my life is hers”.

Could you imagine the chills for NE players if at the end we heard Elune’s voice saying “not yet my child, I cannot lose you. We still have time to deal with the Jailer and his pet”

That would have been excellent!

It would be better than what we have, but I am still irritated that Tyrande has to face setbacks and costs for such power while Sylvanas doesn’t.

I’m guessing she’ll reveal later on, that she did in fact hear just that.

Maybe she’ll commuine with her during Ysera’s induced sleep.

Please, please no. Elune is far more interesting with her mystique intact; this goddess that nobody has seen or directly heard, yet everyone has seen evidence of her power, and so many different cultures seem to be aware of her. I don’t want to have the mystery unceremoniously stripped away, especially for some generic line about the Jailer.

Fortunately Blizzard does go for subtlety every now and then.

I think hearing her voice is different that seeing her. There was that quest in Vanilla that allowed you to communicate with her in Winterspring.

That’s the lot of the Hero. Evil is always the easy path to take… with the price tag not revealed until it’s past too late.

Heroes on the other hand take the hard path to earn their success or chance at it.

At this point I’m honestly just hoping it’s as straight-forward as Elune momentarily “pulling the plug” on the Night Warrior power to save Tyrande.

Because the alternatives are potentially far uglier. Like if Elune withheld the power at that last moment to save Sylvanas from Tyrande because she knows the Banshee Queen needs to survive in order to have some big redemptive turnaround and help stop the Jailer.

And I’m halfway concerned that might be the case. It’s just that Sylvanas sounds too “knowing” when she observes that the power’s fading. As if she already expected it. As if she somehow knows that Elune won’t let Tyrande kill her.

Isn’t Tyrande asking for power in order to defeat Sylvanas? I’m under the impression that Tyrande prayed to Elune so she could grant her more power and power was granted but then taken away a few seconds later? Is Elune having second thoughts?
Another issue with all these is that from the begining both Tyrande and Elune knew the pros and cons of the NW ritual. Elune agreed to boost Tyrande and then she gets cold feet.
Also we apparently have Elune removing the NW power to save Tyrande and then in the next chapter Elune gives back those powers that are about to kill her chosen?
Nothing makes any sense.

That moment when you realize Sylvanas feuding with Genn made hell of a lot more sense

While the cinematic was cool and all, the NW power itself always felt like something blizz added last minute and hoped Ne fans weren’t going to get attached to it. :wolf:

I know that this is the popular explanation de luxe, but I still can’t get past this question:

Why would Elune give Tyrande a power boost to bring Sylvanas to the ground if she was just going to withhold her support at the last moment?

Why not just withhold it to ground Tyrande?

“Elune. It is time! My life for hers!”
“No”

That would be easier, no?

Genn’s feud with Sylvanas always seemed like more of a one-sided thing to me. If she has it out for him specifically, I must have missed it, because he only seemed to be in the way and that’s it.

Alternative theory:

Tyrande already had the power to bring Sylvanas down. Her asking Elune and then seemingly getting more power was simply Tyrande tapping into the power that had already been given to her. The intervention at the end could still be Elune taking it away to allow Tyrande to live.

I was more commenting on the fact, that like between Tyrande and Greymane, he was the only one who successfully made a dent in her plans. :wolf:

I mean, that’s a fine theory, but the cinematic makes it appear different from that - which is why this looks so confusing.

What would happen if Tyrande died killing Sylvanas?

The night elves and Tyrande get their vengance and…?

-The Ardenweald sigil would still be gone, as anduin did that, sylv was just a distraction.
-Tyrande would be dead, leaving the night elves without their beloved leader (no one is currently able to fill in Tyrande’s shoes in the hearts of the Kaldorei) leaving them hopeless.
-We get 1 less boss on the sanctum of domination raid, remember sylvanas was only a distraction, almost discarded by the jailer himself to delay us.

What happens if Tyrande survives and Sylvanas goes?

-The night elves and their souls keep their leader and one of their most beloved and historical figures.
-Ardenweald gets its sigil taken but, it has hope of renewal as the extraction of the night warrior’s power apparently creates a new tear of elune, which fills the WQ with hope for her realm’s endurance and healing.
-Who knows what other roles will Tyrande have in the fight against the jailer, but we know that Tyrande will focus on justice and renewal of her people, not mere vengeance. for the Kaldorei, both living and dead, Tyrande living is a definite win.

Elune denied Tyrande petty vengeance for the benefit of the Kaldorei, Ardenweald and Tyrande herself. Just like a mother would deny a child something because she has a bigger picture.

Why give the power to Tyrande in the first place?, to take back Kaldorei lands
Did Elune get cold feet? I think Elune knew Tyrande would survive the power, but they both underestimated the time it would take to reach Sylvanas and how much energy Tyrande would need. Elune was prepared to grant all the power needed to kill Sylvanas so long as it didnt kill her beloved chosen daughter.

Also one in Ashenvale.
And canonically, the Night Elves use to commune with her long ago but have lost the ability.

I don’t think Elune knows that far. I more suspect that was literally all Elune can give.

I believe the reason why Elune’s influence has been diminishing over the last 10,000 years is because she’s been growing weaker and/or has her attention being divided elsewhere, that we’ll soon be learning about.
