Did anything come of Blizzard acknowledging mount grinds in events?

Yeah that’s…geez.

I had no idea it was that bad. They really make you work for it.

It kind of is tho. I love such grinds. All the more cool when you get the drop.

I don’t mind the grinds so much either. The thing I really hate is the 20 minute respawn timer.

Nothing says good times like doing absolutely nothing for over an hour per character waiting for multiple respawns.

The best way for them to handle any of this would be to do what FF does. Add a currency where you can buy them once it doesn’t drop in x amount of attempts. I know not having a cap on attempts is really what prevents me from doing so many grinds now days.

It was actually 22 toons, now 23 (levelled another to 50).

3 days, 22/23 toons, 68 attempts (on top of the 80 or so last year) and I found the stupid mount.

I mean this doesn’t solve the general problem but at least I can scratch this one off my list.

There should be more of this. Take the Thundering Ruby Cloud Serpent. You get this from a Sky Crystal. You make a Sky Crystal by combining 10 Skyshards. Those Skyshards drop about 1/1000 in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms.

I still don’t have this mount but I have a few Skyshards so it still feels like I’m making progress in a way that a 1/10,000 drop just wouldn’t.

I also agree that there needs to be more player agency here. You can go to the Isle of Giants and farm dinosaur bones. Or you can buy them. Things don’t need to be 100% tradeable reagents but having options for how someone can complete a goal is a good general principle.
