You don’t need all mounts. You actually don’t.
In fact, it is win-win if you never get all mounts. Blizzard gets your money and you get to keep having a carrot to chase after.

i have 5 accounts and i do them in batches of 5. i do it over a few hours while working.
If running the event dozens of times a day is not fun with nothing to show for it, that’s on you. They’ve been very clear that they want certain mounts to be rare.
They’re so lazy and they don’t care. You know ff14 gives you its seasonal items right off the bat. You spend your time grinding for consumable role playing items like fireworks
Right now, it feels like the Rusty Mechanocrawler and the Abyss Worm don’t exist, over 500 kills for both mounts, but I know if I keep up doing it, they will eventually drop.
The important thing is to know when you need to take a break. If it’s stressing you out, maybe walk away from mount farming for a day, a week or longer if it’s really affecting you.
They could make them 100% drop.
And all the people that spent all the effort to get one would rejoice. And then they would look around and see everyone else has one as well and it was all for nought.
Well, that was the expected but Dev just say everything like a big “maybe” and they didn’t do any change on 8 months ![]()
That would be really curious.
Do a boss and either get a BOE currency that you can use to, inevitably, buy the mount, or the mount itself drops as well.
Like the timewalking badges, only they can be sold on the AH. And make them generic, you can only buy the mount during the holiday, but you can collect the currency from any of the holiday events.
Be interesting to see how the market fairs and how much that currency would go for.
Oh, and make the currency nationwide, like cloth. Not server specific.
Why the currency on the AH? That’s the only part that doesn’t make sense.
It could be like the covenant mounts that drop from a rare but you can also buy those from the quatermaster by anima and offerings; therefore, each time that you kill the rare but you don’t get the item, you’re getting offerings which means progress for your end goal.
It should have a personal currency as bad luck and then buy it after X amount of attempts.
Knowing my luck… I’d spend all the time grinding out the number of tokens needed… and just as I’m about to end the grind, I’d get it as a drop… or the event would end and the vendor inaccessible for a year with me a few tokens short…
Devs can reuse the candy currency or provide other options like consumables for the same currency, so if that happens, you can still spent it on something.
It was during the last anniversary event wasn’t it? The one they switched from a 1% drop to a 100% drop mid-event?
Yes, it was switched for obvious reasons…it was really low drop, I did 72 attempts with my alts before that change, if I was playing just 1 character that means like 5 years of attempts.
Yup.
It’s a combination of addiction to wanting something “exclusive” while lacking any special skill or ability to make them stand apart other than having a large amount of disposable time, and an addiction to raising a number. Remove the low-drop rate and suddenly that dopamine hit they’re trying to get is gone. The absolute fastest way Blizzard get mount-lunatics to quit is to ever listen to them and give them what they are.
Maybe if mounts were implemented like the Mage tower book, a permanent feature with a challenge… instead of a slot machine that just cause frustration and if you check mount collectors groups, you’ll notice that instead of dopamine by that time, those players just get a relief feeling
So that when the event is about over, and you’re XXX short of the goal, you can pick the the remaining few to put you over the top.
Or, if you’re some bloated whale, you can buy the mount outright. If you already have the mount, sell your token for an extra reward when playing.
It would be an interesting market dynamic to see how the price would fluctuate for such a token.
Amen to that.
The problem is those mounts exist but mount grinders don’t go for them, they whine in the forum that they exclusionary, lol.
It’s a big community, I went for those mounts, now I’m missing like 3 mounts in game, One the love rocket, I don’t know if I should level up 30+ alts to 60 just in case the Devs move the minimun level again…A lot of players ask for account wide implementations because most players spent all the time with 1 character and want some progress reflected on alts; therefore, rewards should be balance around 1 character, instead if you farm some of those cosmetics only with 1 character maybe you’ll die first before getting it.
Better yet, have these various bosses and such drop some kind of item, a badge or a totem or some such which is specifically named after that boss, one per kill, so that each boss has its own unique totem currency separate from other bosses, which can be traded in at certain NPCs for one specific item from its loot table. Weapons and gear could cost something like 6-10 of these “totems” meaning if you kill that boss 10 or so times you get to basically outright buy the specific loot drop you want from that boss.
Then perhaps if that boss has a mount in its loot table, that mount could cost, oh, i don’t know, let’s say 100 of these totems, so that if you killed the boss 100 times without getting the mount, you could straight up buy it. Maybe make it 99 insteaf. Oh and maybe old bosses not part of the current latest content might not have a weekly loot lockout, right? So since Sanctum of Domination isn’t the latest content, a Hunter could go kill Sylvanas like 20 times and buy her bow.
No, no… forget it, this is all nonsensical trash I’m suggesting. No MMO would ever have such a system…
