a couple of short stories pretty much set alive sylvanas up as your typical stuck up vain to a fault yet in love with a mopey human elf
Garrosh is a warmonger, a monster, a terrible leader.
But he was HONEST. He wants the alliance crushed. He wants the parts of the Horde that wish for peaceful coexistance excised. There’s no morally grey aspect to it, there’s no ‘well what if he was doing it for reasons unknown!’ Nah, he had a viewpoint, and the awesome Stonetalon Mountain quest chain aside, he never really strayed, he actually doubled down. With Sylvanas, we always* had this ‘well what are her true motives?’ and then we found out that she met Zovaal after her botched bungee jump from Ice Crown. ‘So why is she working with Zovaal?’ and we finally got an answer: She drank the kool aid.
Cool.
Garrosh died as he lived: angry. It’s a satisfying narrative beat imo.
(* not always, my bad. Going back to BFA. Because even back in Legion my thought was ‘oh, she just wants the lantern to make more Forsaken. That tracks with Cataclysm Sylvanas’)

Maybe if she wasn’t actively and obviously taking orders this would make a modicum of sense, this line transcends bad writing.

Maybe you’re supposed to remember that his idea of what “The Horde” meant was extremely narrow and self-serving and then look at how unconflicted, severe, and straightforward his motivations about that remained even to the point of his soul being destroyed. Seems like a potentially interesting juxtaposition with someone else. 
I love the idea of them inadvertently making an awesome final scene for Garrosh, when the intention was some contrived nonsense.
The one thing I would have changed would have been to yell “The Shadowlands are FRREEEEEEE!” as he did it.
Wrong character.
And that would have ruined it. :I
I thought everyone loved Thrall and Garrosh just called him a coward. Y’all ok with that?
I know it was his father that did it in WoD, I am saying he should have done it here, because the memes. Memes > all else.
Because if you ignore the animation problems, it’s Garrosh 100%

Kinda like RA Salvatore and Drizzt? I hate Salvatore now. He’s so smug and certain his writing is good. Its trash now.
I like Thrall, but Thrall totally screwed over Garrosh, and there’s plenty of reason for someone like Garrosh to look at Thrall as a coward, despite the fact he was right to do what he did.

And I had to go to his stupid wedding on my Alliance characters.
Sad but true, yeah. Cata onward, the story became so overly centralized on Thrall, that it was difficult to not resent him. And I mean no disrespect when I say that. But yeah - it’s kinda true.
Pre-Cata Thrall was great. Take no nonsense kind of orc. Loved it.
They kinda backed off after Cata, though. Perhaps too much, Thrall basically doesn’t do much of anything in MoP or WoD, outside of wrecking a few generic grunts.
Since danuser was the one that wanted this I doubt anyone went rogue.
It didn’t help that he was starting to become an actual Me’dan 2.0 at that time as well with him being on a power level of the dragon aspects and the one to take down deathwing with the dbz dinner plate.

People are responding because Garrosh has become a dumb meme.
They might as well have put surprised Pikachu in a cut scene.
You think THAT is good writing? It’s the same level of trash we are used to since day one of WoW.
People really need to wake up. The bar is too low; WoW NEVER had good writing. We were just younger and didn’t know better.
WoW’s writing has always been just acceptable.
