This character, a horde blood elf monk, changed to a lightforged draenei toon. Changed name also. It was slow showing I had purchased the race change, slow in allowing me to choose into the draenei toon. Now, it simply locks up when I go to log in with that character. All other characters are uneffected.
I have race changed quite a few toons in the past and it usually takes 2-3 hours to complete the process, but this is very… odd.
Any tips in what to do?
Have updated, restart the game several times, restarted my pc… It’s been 8 hours…
Gonna have to recommend a UI reset, just to rule out any UI corruption. Use the rename option rather then deleting, just to start to rule this out. You should be able to reset it later if it does not help.
That didn’t fix the problem with that character, it did fix the problem of the cinematic playing every time I log in any character I had however.
It did reset all my setting for graphics and sound also, not complaining, the above fix did do things to my UI.
Maybe you logged out in a Horde-only area?
Try moving the character.

Moved character, the service said the character was moved. Character selection screen says that toon is on the vindicaar, the loading screen shows the legion expansion screen, the progress bar at bottom shows it loading all the way and then stays there, stuck… Have to end task wow to stop it.
Open a ticket with the staff and ask them to move it.
Opened a ticket and was dealing with a GM. This was his list of things for me to do:
- Updating Windows and Graphical Drivers
- Verify Game Files: For Blizzard’s Battle net launcher, select Battle net Game, click the Options menu, and choose Scan and Repair.
- Disable Background Applications -
- Run as Administrator: Right-click the Battle net Game shortcut or executable and select ““Run as Administrator.”” This step ensures that the game has the necessary permissions to run smoothly.
- Adjust In-Game Settings: Lower in-game graphics settings to reduce the strain on your system. Experiment with different settings to find a balance between performance and visual quality.
- Check for Overheating
- Reinstall the Game: Uninstall the Game, restart your computer and reinstall the game. Corrupted installation files can lead to various issues, and a fresh installation might resolve the problem.
Should any of the above articles not solve the on-going situation, please consider contacting a local tech expert to perform a more in-depth analysis of your system and resolve any possible hardware or software issues.
Did everything but #7. I am not uninstalling and reinstalling the game when I have no issues with all my other characters but the one I faction changed.
Taking my PC to get it repaired??? No.
Personally, I think that in the process of being faction changed, something went horribly wrong and the file is corrupted.
