Diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment. Looking for a simple class to play

I’ve played wow off and on from the very beginning and I’m coming back after a very long break. Problem is I have cognitive issues and possible onset of early dementia. So, I can’t play nearly at the level I used to. I’m looking for a simple class to play. Before this disease I was very used to assassin rogue, blood dk, bear taking, warrior, and a little bit of shadow priest and warlock. Constantly mashing an attack button doesn’t bother me, it’s when there are tons of cooldowns to manage and complex rotations. Sooo I’m asking for advice. P.S.T Insults and crude remarks will be reported. If you cannot be mature, please don’t post.

I think they could be a balance druid, a demon hunter or a hunter. Few buttons, predictable rotations. I guess a caster would be better than a melee.
I wish you to find the class and spec with which you feel comfortable and happy to play it.

Personally I find BM hunter to be quite easy to set up to be dead simple. It’s actually part of what I like about it - I don’t have to think too hard about it.

The only suggestion I’d say is to use WeakAuras and whatever setup you like that tracks Barbed Shot. Other than keeping track of that you just press stuff on cooldown, and there aren’t a billion little ones to pay attention to.

Balance Druid and Hunter might be your best pick. All you have to do as Druid is cycle between eclipses using Wrath/Starfire which is enhanced depending on which eclipse you got.

I’m sorry about your health, I’m glad you’re finding joy within this game as many of us are. I for one have had very limited mobility in the last year. WoW has made life tolerable.

I would suggest fury warrior. No pressure to be the tank. It’s a couple buttons with burst DPS. You get two buffs and a couple interrupts (which is probably the trickiest of the class). Compared to the other classes, fury warrior is a cake walk.

Survival hunter also seems to be ridiculously easy from what I’ve been playing lately. It’s melee and you really don’t have to do a lot of work.

Ret paladin is pretty easy breezy. I would not suggest balance since you need to track your eclipse timer and dots.

I’ve played just about every spec and I find ret pally to be the easiest by a long mile. It isn’t just simple, it just flows.

I would advise against classes that have multiple systems to watch like energy + combo points.

There are two addons, Hekili and GSE Gnome Sequencer that help or handle rotations too. I like Hekili when trying a new spec initially just to see how the optimal rotation feels.

Ret paladin. It’s simple, fun, and only has like… I think 1 cooldown, your wings. And even then it can be baked into wake of ashes via the Radiant Glory talent.

You could look into using the addon GSE which can enable one button rotation macros for a lot of specs I think to potentially simplify a bunch of different options.

https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/gse-gnome-sequencer-enhanced-advanced-macros

it has a discord on the addon page with macro examples and there are sites with some like:

That website has GSE macros for a lot of specs. I don’t use it so I can’t speak to how effective it is but I’ve read it’s pretty decent. You won’t be the top of your spec I’m sure but it probably is good enough for a lot of things. I think they have different macros for ST/AoE.

I agree Guardian is simple if you wanted to tank. It does have a handful of cooldowns but if you’re not doing super high-end content you can get away with hardly ever using some of them.

not anymore lul. I’d suggest frost mage. Simple AoE and ST is spamming ice lance.

arcane mage, and just solo everything - et.al, we have follower dungeons now. so once you hit 70, you can just queue for follower dungeons. and we have delves where brann bronzebeard is your partner and he can be either heals or dps. solo play is the secret sauce to slowed reaction time

I was thinking hunter, because you can always auto-shoot , if all else fails. Beast hunter basically has 2 criticlal spells, cobra shot and kill command and you can talent cobra shot to reset kill command.

So for further info, I plan on playing solo mostly. Delves and such. Not sure I’m ready to go back to heavy group content. Maybe once I get into the swing of things.

Frostfire Frost Mage is simple and pretty enjoyable to me.

Frost DK and go for an obliteration build without ever touching breathe of sindragosa.

Sure, Elemental Shaman and Beast Master Hunter leap to mind. They both can be setup to be pretty low APM, and BM may edge out Elemental just a tad because you can perform the entire rotation while moving so you don’t have to think much about timing your movements.

In that case, i would 100% recommend BM hunter with healer brann while using turtle pet or any pet with shield abilities.

thats what i do. i;m nearly 70 and not only slowed reaction, but handicapped hands. solo play is the best solution

Yeah, my left hand shakes a bit due to messed up nerves in my neck.

Delves are great as a guardian druid. Tanky, a lot of self-healing and decent AoE damage. I have an alt druid that has an arcane focused spec so you can do a lot just spamming moonfire and using your lunar beam a lot while throwing in other cooldowns and procs occasionally and dumping rage. It’s easier to do delves on my Druid alt as Guardian than as my main shaman that has a higher ilvl.

For a DPS a pet class makes delves much easier. They can ignore a lot of mechanics that are focused on their pets. Lock or hunter would be fine.

Also healer brann will help keep your pet alive. Taking his potions heals you and your pet I believe.

i was gonna say play whatever and not worry abt rotations esp since you solo but i say ret for the utility and heal plus it’s just ez

good luck
