There are very few similarities between D3 and D4 besides the top-down ARPG game design. Different talent trees, paragon system, world bosses, open world concept, repeatable dungeons, etc.
If anything, I think D4 is a combination of D2 and D:I.
I would bet not everyone will enjoy the changes…but to say that it is the “exact game with near no changes” is not accurate.
I loved it as well. But the classes are bland. No unique or exotic classes like Paladin, ninja, samurai, dragon knight or monk etc. Probably coming on expansion.
The story, visuals and atmosphere is top notch though. Some animation can use some refinement but this is just beta so understandable.
That’s a little problem since Diablo 3, it’s simple, you won’t see the same from Diablo 2 because Blizzard North doesn’t exist which was one reason why they didn’t remaster the first Diablo because they lost the source code.
thing that I give you reason that I would have wished that this franchise had stayed in 2 and that Diablo: Immoral would never have existed.
My rogue is only 15 atm and the only ties I’ve seen so far to the old story were Lilith and the Sister of the Sightless Eye. I don’t even know what region were in, though I suspect maybe the Barbarian highlands?
Totally agree. People like to bash Blizz but with how great Overwatch 2, WoW, and now Diablo IV are playing Blizz has shown they remain one of the best developers in the industry.
It’s been so nice to see them back on their game. This is the developer I fell in love with back in the 90s.
I was able to play up to around level 20 yesterday, was fun.
Now stuck in perpetual queue loop, been that way all morning. I play D4 on console, though. The redheaded unloved stepchild.
From what I did play it was engaging. The loot drops are interesting (lots of legendaries to play with early on that allow you to acquire higher level abilities), all sorts of new modifiers for math lovers.
I think they should have released higher difficulties, though. The dungeon bosses are pretty well tuned, but the regular mobs are boring and density is really low like it was originally in D3. They have some pretty big tuning to do there.
Gameplay feels really smooth, though. The story is good, the cutscenes are interesting (and bloody).
Love the talent trees so far. They seem a little limited, though. They could probably add a couple extra branches here and there to give more of an open playstyle so we don’t end up with D3 and wow meta builds like we do now. Give us more to experiment with.
My fav atm is CL sorc, but looking forward to playing Druid when they finally let us play it.
Maybe in the PC version it looks better, but the PS version is no different than Diablo 3.
With Diablo 3 RoS and Diablo Immoral as examples… I don’t know, I will test the game with the Open Beta.
But what I’m seeing doesn’t convince me at all.
You haven’t played the game, yet seem convinced it’s a fail.
You’re gonna hate it, don’t bother, your mind is made up and you’ll just be mad you wasted your time and or money. Then we’ll have to listen to you on the forums complaining about nothing.
