There’s a slight difference between balancing and designing around the 1%.
Designing a class. I completely agree. It should be designed around a broad number of players, including casuals.
That’s precisely why the current DH fails. Then again, ignoring mover (which I strongly believe is the biggest Havoc issue), I don’t think anyone enjoys the current gameplay of stacking 6 DPS windows and Chaos Transformation delaying every single Meta CD usage.
Balancing however? It should be balanced around the top performance of every single class (Mythic 90-95th percentile). There’s no reason for a spec to be balanced around a low skillcap, because then it ends up being absolutely terrible in the endgame.
It’s pretty stupid that we can’t Meta while being rooted, I 100% agree with this. Or the fact that Meta takes a whole GCD for something that most of the time is completely useless in both PvE and PvP, and sometimes even undesirable. (Ov’inax, Meta stun)
I just started playing again. Played shadowlands, DH was almost god mode. DF they got nerfed into oblivion and have apparently stayed there. Single target dmg is abysmal. The only reason our dmg even looks half way decent is because of splash. Our defensives are just as bad. Darkness is about the dumbest thing ever. For a melee to just stand in a puddle for their big defensive ? Absolutely braindead. Leech got nerfed and thats about all we got. They need some major changes. Ele shams throw down 1 totem and absorb 14 mil dmg and self heal without ever casting… Demon hunters have to hope a stupid purple orb drops that gives 1mil healing… Single target dmg buff, rework defensives, better self healing.
The hunt was literally 100-0ing they had to nerf it like 4 times for havoc and after all those nerfs it was still one shotting as vengeance because of the mastery scaling so then they nerfed it an additional time for Vengeance.
There is still a Rextroy video up of him one shotting as Vengeance with it. No trick to it he just presses the hunt and hopes for a crit.
You guys are missing the point. Look at the PVP ladders, not the murlok website, it will give you a better understanding on where DH stands in comparison to other classes.
The point of this thread is not about scaling, but issues with the fundamental playstyle of Havoc in PVP. You become useless the second you are rooted or the enemy manages to block your Hunt.
The way Hunt works in PVP is super ridiculous in the first place. Its the biggest and most important CD for Havoc in PVP but if enemy manages to block it with stun or root or etc, its gone. The spell is used and you need to wait 2 minutes for another use.
Yes, it is situational and you need to be careful on how you use it, but still, comparing our CDs with other classes…
We went from being glass canon to glass target dummy.
We either need a 3rd spec that lets us do sustained ST damage while being decently tanky or Havoc needs a revamp in its playstyle for PVP.
I personally enjoy havoc in PVE, its mega fun, been so since legion despite bad numbers. But in PVP, you are just paper. Especially when you go up against warriors and rogues.
Here’s the thing, keep buffing CS and there will be a point in which we don’t use Blade Dance anymore,
CS is already MASSIVE in Fel Scarred thanks to the double dipping of mastery on Burning Blades, buffing it even further only buffs BB even further.
Honestly, BB is a tuning abomination and I would probably remove it, compensating with a 20% aura in the way (that’s how much damage Burning Blade does in a 5 min sim)
I’m pretty much fully geared in PvP and when it hits even with a 20% buff from demon soul it’s only like 150k maybe 250k if lucky? But on average 150-200k lol idk it could use a buff for sure… but idk about 150% haha
