DF abandons WoW’s solo playerbase... but why?

Except your “Italian Cuisine Restaurant” as just one aisle of a large supermarket. And you’re standing in the checkout ranting at the other shoppers about what they have in their baskets.

SARCASM & EXAGGERATION

It just FEELS like it takes forever.

x pacs have cycles, solo players shouldn’t even bother buying the game until the last patch when every bit of time gating and e sporting is done.

they give the progression away then.

I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that most players spend a significant chunk of their time not grouped up and generally just hanging out. Most players seem to understand that if you want good gear you gotta do at least a little bit of grouping up. The people who exclusively or nearly exclusively play solo seem to be a minority. I have no data to back this up, this is just based on my observations having played this game.

2.7 million characters have completed an M+ dungeon in 10.0. Assuming we have about 2 million subs to the game which is what most estimator sites say, and assuming every person who does M+ has done keys on 3 characters (which is a stretch) then that’s still 900k subscribers who play M+. Probably the single largest demographic in the game.

I dont know what game you’re playing, cause Im kneeling under the weight of solo content. I just looked at my map and I know it’s gonna take me weeks lol

there’s tons of solo content, you just choose not to do it because you don’t think the rewards are good enough

if you want a solo game where you can get whatever your heart desires, get a solo game and use all the cheat codes you want. this isn’t that game.

I seem to do okay in the open world as a solo player. Probably going to finish my Renown with all four factions this week. Slowly progressing my characters. Working on professions, even crafting orders among my alts. I can also recraft gear over 400 ilvl. Even have a fairly decent ilvl of gear with the content that I do. Have even maxed out Obsidian Citadel already. Heck, I can even get Raid Tier appearances without going into a raid.

Do some rares and world bosses require multiple people? Yes, but it usually only takes 30 seconds to get into a group if absolutely needed. Most of the time, I just go to the area and others are already fighting and I join in.

you know you are playing a massive multiplayer role playing game - why on earth devs should put effort on solo players? go play hogwart legacy or any other single player if that’s your thing.

Also, 0/10 trolling post

you know most people dont logs m+, right? like 75% of them. only the hardcore players take the time to log m+

Gear wise, full solo players have better progression in DF S1 than SL S3 and S4.

Solo player progression in SL S3/S4 was limited to Sandworm relic gear, LFR gear. DF S1 gives you access to Heroic level ilvl gear through crafting and renown.

All M+ runs get tracked by RaiderIO

Play a dps class and thing will die faster

Just like every other expansion right? I swear the only way solo players would be happy would be if they gave them Mythic gear. And even then they’d probably still complain

they do, if you log. just like raids. i doubt people who pug 2/15’s log their runs.

There is a way to get vault rewards but you have to be in warmode to do it.

Go farm those coins in warmode. You can get those coins from open world treasure chests, dirt spots, mobs, etc… not necessarily having to kill other players.

When you get enough, turn the quest in to the pvp npc in Valdrakken & you should get an item from the vault.

Because peer pressure to play is stronger than the appeal of the game itself, so they leverage that to keep people playing. Once you depend on group content you are beholden to the tools they want/need you to use.

As you say they didn’t do that this time, we’ll see how this goes. I mean the fact that after an expansion the nuke all of your rewards to bits kind of makes me glad they aren’t doing that. But we’ll see.

I’m mostly a solo player although I love the storms, the big bosses in open world where you can group up in an open world raid, stuff like that is a blast to me.

I don’t think I need mythic grade gear to play. I don’t have any interest in mythics because I think I’d be more a detriment to the group than an actual benefit so I avoid that part.

I also like to think that there are more people like me than not and it’s a much smaller group that makes these demands to get mythic quality gear without having to do mythics but I could be wrong.

Ty for the #2 part of your post. I’m just starting the storms and knew there was a system to them but haven’t figured it out yet so you helped with that.

There is more solo content in wow today than ever before.

This is not a single-player game. “Massively multiplayer” is right in the name of the genre.

I would be interested in knowing if there are any raiders that would prefer a different way of going about getting gear faster without having to do mythics.

I don’t recall seeing much about those kinds of threads from that specific player base.
