DF abandons WoW’s solo playerbase... but why?

Not necessarily. A game like Diablo is neither single- nor multiplayer. It incorporates both rather seamlessly and can still be considered a ‘fantasy RPG’ as labeled by the person I replied to. As I said, I think games like Diablo show that there is no hard line to be drawn here; gameplay can be designed to accommodate solo play just as easily as a group of players. These discussions seem to invariably turn into an emotional battle of preferences, which ends up burying any good points either side might have made prior.

Most RPGs, even single player, are party based.

Because it makes very little sense that a lone wolf hero can slay the worst evil in the land.

Not every villain is Ganon, which gets slayed by a mute elf boy no older than 12, throwing into question his entire villainy and the competence of the entire emperial court of Hyrule.

Because again : you’re not Kirito, this isn’t Sword Art Online.

Solo players are plenty accommodated in WoW.

A game where the solo protagonist gets overtaken by the evil and turns into a vessel for Diablo himself.

Pretty poor example.

lol number of players at Mythic Raiding level would actually be smaller than a solo player base.

…and they don’t pay more sub at Mythic Raiding level.

Well as this game isn’t designed around solo players how about nah.

I’m heavily opposed to devs wasting time on things that will be ignored.

Imo the most solo players should get in terms of gear progression should be AT LEAST around Normal Raiding ilvl. Outside of that any content made for solo players should just be for cosmetics

Dang its almost like you’re playing an MMO!? W-whaaaaa. A massive multiplayer game? Who knew that playing with others goes hand in hand with…more than one player? Dang!

Theres plenty for solo players to do. You get your world quests, your weekly world quests. Your little elemental storm stuff for gear and stuff. All the cosmetics to farm. DF gives solo players up to like 370-380 il so idk what ya’ll are complaining about lol. This gave you the most out of any xpack so far for their launch.

Ignored by you. I ignore raids so do many people in this game. Many people don’t raid past heroic. Should mythic receive dev time because of that?

Try 405s, with 392s for most slots, and 385 tier.

DF gives solo players basically normal mode raid ilvl.

See above. That’s already what it is, and they still complain.

They will always complain.

Because it’s not a real complaint. The goal is the complaining itself. Trying to pass themselves as oppressed somehow because their pixels aren’t up to par with people who actually play the game.

They already do. They want heroic and better.

Solo play is a side game. It’s sole purpose is to give people things to do outside of group content.

Less than 50% ignore raids.

Mythic raiding is an endgame pillar. Solo play is not. Why can you not understand this?

Oh hecks no. Join a Raid or M+ is my stance. Otherwise anything offered should again be cosmetic

Likewise.

But then they yell that we are “gatekeeping” them and that they want challenging content.

Nah fam they just want bis pixels for doing nothing.

As a casual soloing scrub, my main – 63 Mage – is sitting around 316 or so. That is quite sufficient for me to solo in DF. I assume that as I get higher I’ll get slightly better gear – maybe I might get up to 350 if I work at it.

I understand that soloists can get 4 piece of 405ish gear. Not sure why anyone soloing needs anywhere near that much. Quite frankly, it’s a bit embarrassing watching people whining about this. I’m not part of that crowd, they don’t speak for me, & I really wish they’d just shut up already.

DF kinda abandoned everything that wasn’t four dungeons and a raid.

50 + 15 a month for a really, really limited version of Diablo is probably good marketing for D4 at least.

To be fair here, many things get added through out a expansions cycle. We’re only on the first patch of DF. There’s still RDF and RF snd other solo content. I feel as crsppy as wow is these days, you’re jumping the gun.

You sound like someone’s alt trying to paint it that way. Or with low self esteem if you are describing yourself with derogatory terms.

This character is an alt. After I post this, I’ll post on my main.

There’s nothing “derogatory” about my self-description. Think instead of Eminem in “8 Mile” tearing himself down & then saying, “Now tell the people something they don’t know about me.” It’s also dead-serious realism: I’m not a “good” player any more, much less “elite.”

Nevertheless, my point stands: if I can solo in DF with my level of gear, anyone can. Sick past my ears of the whining.

& here’s Vahshress’s main. I’d thought I was up around iLevel 316, but that’s only a couple pieces. But soloing at 275 is not difficult. People should maybe try to put some effort into it. Because if I can solo in DF with this gear, you can too.

The pieces over 300 I bought from the AH. Everything else came from the storms quests from just before DF launched. Nothing I have came from any sort of actual “group content.”

Yeah, the 4 whole zones with multiple end game areas and events just don’t exist.

It’s literally the same as it’s been in every other expansion yet they actually have solo players even more with primal storm gear.

Most Solo players will never be happy and should be ignored.

Thing is, even among the self described solo players, they can come to a consensus as to what they want.
