DF abandons WoW’s solo playerbase... but why?

Which means that the dev psyche is wrong and requires change.

Not rewarding things from the content it’s meant as a reward for is a “problem with the devs’ psyche”?

Ard, you never cease to amaze me. This is not a compliment.

Since that DF sold poorly says the approach is failing.

Ah yes. This quarter’s sales thus far are directly related to whether or not you’re rewarded Heroic gear for doing things other than Heroic raiding… even though you do get a Heroic chest every so often, all you gotta do is run some m0’s

Because this isnt Skyrim or Witcher 3. Solo players have single player games for their genre.

Probably because veteran players realized after a few years that the gameplay is timegate and they don’t want to be strung along anymore. It’s not worth engaging with content and other players when the gameplay is timegate like what freemium games tend to implement. It feels like login rewards, not actual meaningful gear progression.

I think its more than the loot being crap.

Pretty much.

Content is always cut lean nowadays.

I’ve had meaningful gear progression the entire expansion so far.

I play the game though.

Doing just fine playing solo.

What do you consider decent gear? Open world gear has been pretty darn good for years. You shouldn’t be at risk of dying in 90% of the solo content in storms/LFR/crafted gear unless you’re trying to pull everything in sight.

Solos players are free to leave.

I never understand people who say there’s not enough content, I consider myself a solo player but I’ve felt there was too much to do, not too little, even now. If you’re bored then you’re boring.

I think they do care. Hots is all but dead. Sc2 is held togather by its esports but is f2p so yeah. Reforge and diable 2/3 most likly have smaller player bases. And overwatch isnt do that well either. So all in all WoW matters alot.

Nope. When vanilla launched, every race comes across a “you should form a group to kill xyz” within 20 quests. The game never was and never has been intended to be a solo experience.

I’m up to around 380 doing all solo stuff. A few world bosses I got nothing from and I think 1 mythic dungeon is all I’ve done group content. There’s only a couple rares that are not soloable, feasts hunts sieges, etc… you can do all that solo. The problem with people is this, they want solo content that gives way better gear than we need. At my ilvl, what am I gonna have trouble doing solo besides a world boss? What more do they need to give me if I can already kill everything including elites? There absolutely has to be a gap in what ilvl a solo player can earn versus what someone doing endgame content gets, so I’m missing what the problem is here. The only expansion I’ve even played that seemed easier to do things solo was Legion. What is is you want, solo content that provides end game group quality loot? That’s not WOW, and regardless of what the other 32k games out there trying to compete with WOW do, they are nowhere near as big of a money maker. So people’s suggestions are we copy off of less successful games. Makes sense.

Bahahaha. Random heroics are not end game progression.

People who only do world quests often think they need mythic ilvl gear to do them

I feel like we’re veering away from “i don’t want to play with other people” towards “i don’t even want to look at another person out in the world” and if the latter is the case for y’all, you are playing the wrong genre of game.

it’s wild to me that people use the phrase “solo player” like it’s an identity they were assigned by somebody else. “sorry i can’t do X, i’m a solo player. i’m forbidden from doing group content. i wish i could try m+ but it’s just not the hand i was dealt”.

“solo player” describes your choices. if you don’t like the outcome of those choices, make different choices.
