Devs STILL haven't done pathfinder

It’s been many months since pathfinder has been released and the people who imposed it on the players STILL have not done it.
I’m not going to name names, but you can armory.
If it’s such a good system and the content is so good, why haven’t they done it themselves?
They don’t even play the game they make.

Considering the devs didn’t event want Pathfinder added to the game at all, I would say not having it means they’re not hypocritical, so wtg for sticking to their guns, I guess.

Devs don’t play the game, shocker.

I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t the devs that wanted to add pathfinder to WoW, I’m 100% certain that this decision was made by executives who wanted players to take longer do to stuff and not by the devs themselves, whom I imagine were told they had to do it.

Raid loggers don’t care about Pathfinder

The devs wanted flying completely removed. Pathfinder is the most they’ll give us for a compromise with flying… which says a lot. I’m not surprised they don’t have it

Oh hey look.

Hazzikostas reiterates much of what he told Polygon in our interview. " World of Warcraft is full of memorable moments that are only possible when players explore the world by ground," he writes.

However, Hazzikostas goes on to acknowledge that many players still want flying mounts. He says the development team at Blizzard worked for a long time to come up with a new method of enabling flying without “compromising the excitement of ground-based exploration.”

Now tell me that doesn’t sound exactly like stuff that marketing personal and executives would come up with to justify their bad ideas?
Do you really think the dev teams and Ion would come up and say “hey we didn’t want to do this, our bosses told us to”? No, they’re told what to do and even more importantly, what to say.

pathfinder was easy in legion, i’d say everything about BFA pathfinder was easy except Mechagnome trash land took me forever to make myself finish.

I’m a germaphobe and the idea of all that trash everywhere was really off putting. I suppose some people enjoyed it though…

If you’re talking about Watcher, Watcher is a raid logger. He logs on, raids, logs off. He was also behind other people involving his neck level too. But, keeping such in mind, he himself has said that he doesn’t think people should do content they don’t wanna.

Of course pathfinder is easy that’s not the point. They go on streams and tell us how important it is and how great it is. But they are not willing to touch it themselves.

“Having looked at how flying has played out in the old world in the last couple of expansions, we realized that while we were doing it out of this ingrained habit after we introduced flying in The Burning Crusade , it actually detracted from gameplay in a whole lot of ways,” Hazzikostas explains. “While there was certainly convenience in being able to completely explore the world in three dimensions, that also came at the expense of gameplay like targeted exploration, like trying to figure out what’s in that cave on top of a hill and how do I get up there.”

“IT MADE THE WORLD FEEL IN MANY WAYS MUCH SMALLER”

Hazzikostas gives an example: Before flying was introduced to World of Warcraft , if you got a quest to rescue a prisoner from an enemy encampment, it would play out a certain way. Players would need to fight their way through the camp. After flying, players could just fly into the center of camp, land on top of the hut where the prisoner is, free him and fly out.

“It made the world feel in many ways much smaller,” he says.

Originally, Blizzard took out flying in Warlords of Draenor as an experiment, and Hazzikostas says he would have bet “slightly better than even money at the time” that they were going to bring it back eventually. But as they played the expansion and watched others play it, they discovered that they liked the game better without flying.

“The world feels larger, feels more dangerous,” he says. “There’s more room for exploration, for secrets, for discovery and overall immersion in the world. At this point, we feel that outdoor gameplay in World of Warcraft is ultimately better without flying. We’re not going to be reintroducing the ability to fly in Draenor, and that’s kind of where we’re at going forward.”

Hazziokostas confirms that this direction includes future expansions, though he doesn’t discount the possibility of adding flight options in to specific expansion ideas or zones that would benefit from it. In general, though, he believes that exploration in Blizzard’s massive world “works better and feels better in our view when you’re doing it from the ground”

So…

They’ve been a bit busy and haven’t played much?

Not really an indictable offense.

So what do you actually do in game? Im guessing an AH player?

Im very casual and play few hours a day if I can get time to play at all and even I managed to get pathfinder.

I mean you really have to try to not get it this late in the expansion. You really have no reason to complain tbh.

You mean they’re ok with playing with no flying?

well if by important we got to have fun in warmode without them for a very good portion of the xpac I would say that’s important. I’d like it if part 2 comes out it’s not uber gated like BFA’s was.

Agree. I do not like mechagon in general hence it was boring for me to play there in the first place. Prolly wont set foot there if it werent for the essences and pathfinder

So do you have an opinion like at all or you’re just going to copy/paste everything?
Everything there just sounds more and more like something devs are told to say by the execs and you copying and pasting everything doesn’t change my mind on this like at all.

I figured the lead developers words could speak for themselves.

You said they didn’t want to remove flying, he did.
