While I’m sure that might be a factor. I’m thinking more internal pros and cons.
Communication is extremely important on any project. While programs like Zoom have certainly gotten better, they are still at the mercy of the internet. The commercials about misinterpreting comments due to that lag, while extremely exaggerated, can happen.
There’s also an efficiency thing, having to merge multiple branches of a project file is time consuming when in office. I can’t imagine how much more time consuming it is when everyone is having to upload their changes to a server remotely. This also puts those files at the mercy of the internet once again.
I’m sure there are ways to mitigate and balance around these and the many other reasons, but that requires resources and figuring out if such resources are available/worth using.
But he didn’t. He keeps changing his story, so I highly doubt he’s telling the truth. He was ‘paying a mortgage for an apartment’, which is beyond baffling.
You’re just not worth the effort of lying to.
He could have just meant a condo with an apartment number, of which there appear to be plenty for sale in Pittsburgh on Zillow.

I agree with you Endafy… however…
…This isn’t a Left vs Right thing. At least it shouldn’t really tbh.

I don’t understand how some people can be so dense. All that’s being requested is for a better work place so that the games everyone here is playing can be better because the environment is much more positive. And the boomers come out in force with a song and dance as to why that’s not only not going to happen, but those people should just quit and potentially put their families (If they have one) at risk.

Boomers are out of touch. I often have my Boomer parents asking why I don’t want Kids.
They have no idea how expensive it is to have a child even with insurance and that daycare costs are insane.

Still in the process… but Microsoft is currently being sued by the EU and the USA to block the merger.
A lot of this sounds like “I’m quitting if I don’t get my way” and then when bosses tell them no for whatever reason they get all butt hurt.
When I hire a tattoo artist, I hire them to do the job I want. I’m okay with them putting their input in on it, but if I don’t like it and ultimately say no to it, then it’s no. I’m paying them for something specific.
If they want to refuse to do my tattoo over being butt hurt, then so be it.

Its a bad thing? Hmmmm. Just ask the majority of Starbucks workers that did not unionize, their lives are just fine, and are making far more money than in the past. They actually enjoy working, and take huge pride doing so.
Unions are not the end all beat all you think. Have been in 3 and not once did they ever go to bat for me, or anyone else thats not in the inner circle of the leadership!
