The Alliance desperately needs it.
This is a decent first step, but you need to take it even further in 10.0. I want the option to completely abandon / leave my faction. I want the option to be âfaction-lessâ or even form my own in conjunction with other guilds. I want all races to be able to join guilds, even if removing the guild from a factional alignment is a required step in that process.
You mentioned giving players the option to engage in this. I think that the suggestion Iâve made is the perfect means of doing precisely that. It requires player election at every level to first detach from their existing faction and then to opt into a guild structure that has collectively elected to do exactly the same.
This is the first glimmer of light that Iâve seen in the long, dark tunnel weâve been in for years now. More of THIS and less of mandatory grinds for pointless currencies and borrowed power, please.
Because this is the death of the game.
I wonder what, if any, implications making a group/raid with Horde/Alliance mix will have for organizing RP events on RP Realms.
Communities while good donât allow access to Gbank (we supply all our raiders with consumables for the week through there). We also already have the guild set up and good to go Iâd need to create a brand new community convince all my current raiders to join for maybe 2-3 people at the start. would be alot easier if i could just invite those 2-3 to the existing guild
While this change is exciting and wanted, itâs incomplete without Cross Faction guilds. Cross-Faction play is such a desirable feature from both casuals and hardcore players that they would sooner jump hoops and inconveniences just to play the faction they want and still play with the people they want.
Cross-Faction communities will just replace the essence of what Guilds are today, and they will become little more than empty storage units for guild bank usage.
Why?
Just donât join a guild that participates in cross faction activities

Excuse me. What?
ggâŚfor those thay paid a transfer to the horde
Looking forward to this change when it comes in 9.2.5. We have some members in my guild that have Alliance character(s) as their main. Now we will be able to invite their Alliance characters to our weekly raid(s).
Once in a party together, members of the opposite faction will remain unfriendly while in the âoutdoorâ world (and fully hostile in War Mode!), as they do today, though they will be able to communicate through party chat.
Can we summon each other while grouped, but unfriendly?
This is already a large annoyance of War Mode; not being able to help each other summon. Iâm worried this will exacerbate that issue if you similarly cannot summon with a party member of the opposite faction.
Overall, Iâm super pumped to finally be able to play with ALL of my IRL friends instead of just those that happened to pick the same faction as me! Thank you for finally letting us play with whoever we want regardless of faction! Now open up cross server Mythic raiding day 1 so we can be done with all of these needless barriers to playing with our friends!
If players in my guild want to play on the opposite faction, what does that mean for raiding achievements that are tied to the guild?
I hope that never happens.
Awesome sooner than I expected!
This is a good first step. And I hope itâs only a first step.
Guilds need to be included. For sure. 100%.
They did say something about âCross-faction communitiesâ so until we find out what that is we donât know much. I think it could be something like cross-faction guilds, without using the word.
I guess if Ebolite says itâs true then it must be.
Everyone pack your bags. Itâs all over.
All that is missing here is cross faction guilds. Make it happen please! Plenty of my raiders want to have alliance and horde characters within the same guild. Having an Alliance/Horde alt that is not in guild and just raiding doesnât feel right.
Letâs make cross faction guilds happen too.
Bite the bullet and allow cross-faction guilds.
The lore supports this. Many major in-game organizations have members of opposite races. A guild at this point in the story line is an organization of like-minded super-heroes that serve the greater good, not some political faction.
