Development Preview: Cross-Faction Instances

So question for everyone: Since they are going to let this happen in raids - Does that mean Mythic raiding can invite people of whatever faction even the hall of fame is not done? Currently no cross server mythic - so does the Alliance player have to be the same server as the Horde player to do Mythic raid at start or does this open up Cross-realm mythic raiding now at the start with cross faction???

Yeah, and it’s probably the fault of people like you.

A late Winterveil gift, thank you!!!

I do hope this will lead to cross faction guilds. It’s 2022 and there shouldn’t be a reason why your favorite racial choice should limit your guild. I always imagine guilds as factions like the Cenarion Circle, they cross the Horde v Alliance divide. And we have a ton of in game factions like this, let’s treat guilds this way so we can improve the size of our communities rather than needlessly divide them.

I want to love this Tauren and no one is going to judge me for it. Let him join the guild he wants.

this.

this change doesn’t help mythic raiding guilds at all. now, if we want a cross faction raider, we have to maintain a community as well as a guild and make sure the two are synced?

or even worse, manage a raid roster via battle tags?

that sucks.

A disappointing half measure. The biggest problem with the faction split is how hard it is for Alliance guilds to recruit, this does not at all solve that problem. If horde and alliance can’t be in the same guild and mythic raid instance, I’m not interested.

I’m willing to bet if you made a poll and asked people what drew them to the game and what kept them playing, “faction divide” or “faction war” wouldn’t even be in the top 100 answers, hell, I’d be surprised if it got more than 1% of the vote.

This isn’t what technical debt is.

101% of statistics are made up 95.3% of the time, or something.

But let’s not worry about facts or reality. Let’s just make inaccurate emotional claims that fit our narrative as an attempt to gaslight others.

Why hasn’t catering to raiders made you leave yet?

Do it. But make it so that you can select multiple options.

No, if people have the opt-out the horde will take it an nothing will change, this must be enforced!! we need the carry

Explain how those are different from a guild.

“Put” it? Why would you need to “put” it anywhere? Guild halls aren’t a thing (yet).

Even if they were, there’s loads of neutral cities.

This is great news, Blizzard! I applaud you for this change.

Hopefully this is the first step towards ending the faction divide altogether. Yes, Warcraft did start out as "“Orcs. versus Humans”, but times indeed change. All wars end eventually. If players on the Alliance side can be on friendly terms with Thrall, Baine, and the other Horde leaders, shouldn’t we be able to be on friendly terms with the rest of the Horde?

Just wanting some clarification. If my buddy plays Horde and I play Alli, we still cannot queue for dungeons together via the dungeon finder?

Great news! But it’s missing the thing that would be most impactful and interesting and valuable to me by far: eliminating faction-specific enemy tapping! So now I can take down the Jailer with a raid of night elves, but I still can’t effectively quest in the same area as them? Eliminating those pesky grey enemy portraits would be the biggest thing you could do to improve the game for me. It’s a perfect time for it!

This is great for the health of the game.
This needed to be a thing years ago but thanks for making it finally happen :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

well, my best point for random cross faction is that it will fix queue times and faction balance in both random bgs and epic bgs. currently alliance have a tactical advantage in that their queue is so short they can get a full 40 man premade into a game. they do this by queue dropping if they dont all get a queue pop at the same time. this results in some poor ally team of 3-4 facing a horde team that has been waiting 10-15 minutes to get into pvp (though sometimes up to an hour). generally the best horde can usually get is 20-30 into a single match if they are lucky and its a quiet week. but thats assuming they get in to the same game, as the ally premades doing the queue dropping cause multiple games to start with empty ally teams, this disrupts horde teams from getting into the same game, so that when the ally premade finally does take a pop, they are facing a premade of 5-10 and the rest all solos.

if we had automatic mixed factions in random content, this would solve the issue of premade queue dropping resulting in hundreds of players getting their game soured, it would also solve the faction imbalance in both player quality and queue times.

the current merc NPC could be changed to offer you the option to opt out and always be on your home team.
