Developers are still not getting what made WoW so good in the first place

Yeah I get that, but WoW specifically, after almost 20 years is awful. Every expansion is jammed into a fast levelling experience, and new players who want to complete things expansion specific have a hard time finding where to go because now EVERY quest is available at once, unlike during the actual expansion when everything was released slowly throughout each tier/season. Your quest log gets full so you abandon a few quests, then have no clue what you’ve completed or where to go when you want to finish some storylines. I can’t tell you how many posts pop up on the CS forum asking for help on where to go next because they can’t figure it out through online resources or even clues in game.

If you choose Chromie Time it’s super condensed, and if you don’t you outlevel zones so fast and unless you look it up online, it’s not inherently clear where to go next… sometimes it’s halfway across the continent, and there’s levelling zones for each continent that could match your level. And you outlevel zones so fast you can’t finish questlines and storylines, and for new players that’s not fun.

blizzard better not prune now!! considering i just purchased 3 more keyboards and 3 more mice and my surgery is still going ahead as planned to attach 2 more arms to my body along with 5 addition fingers far each of my 4 hands.

Over the course of the game there’s been over 110 milion unique accounts. So really, they’ve probably lost around 105 million players.

If they’d managed 1% better player retention over the course of 10 years that would have been an extra 1 million players paying subs for 10 years. Or 1.8 billion dollars.

I’d die of boredom. No wonder you’re complaining.

I got burnt raiding in Wrath. Between the drama and especially the repetition, it was boring as hell. I walked away from that nonsense and have never been happier playing out in the world.

WoD was awful due to Afrasiabi’s attempt to end flying, and all the cut content. SL had the least amount of open world content, and I was bored by week 5.

Legion had a ton, but DF has exponentially the most of any expansion. I play several hours every day and I’ve still not finished all the quests in any of the zones, because I’m also doing all the open world event scenarios which are a blast, and repeatable. Plus I’m catching up a few alts for mogs.

Sure the Researchers event is really only worth doing once a day because of the rare reset, but the Time Rifts, Dreamsurges, and Fyrakk events can be farmed for mogs and currency, and the TRs have mounts and pets too. Best of all, they’re all short, varied, drama free, and a new one is introduced each patch, so they feel nothing like Raiding & Mythics.

My favorite design aspect of DF is their decision to give us Dragonriding within the first hour of the opening quests line. I love not feeling the pressure to get everything done for the eventual release of Pathfinder. And while I prefer regular flying if I’m in the mood to just chill and gather herbs & ore, it’s not a priority to get to whatever level of renown I need to have for it in 10.2 because I’ve got Dragonriding which I love.

what do you mean modern devs are not getting it, didn’t everyone start playing mmorpgs to sit in an instance 24/7 chasing a timer?

Lol it maybe not 20 buttons but id say ret has alot if you play the class as intended. Utilizing the utility and weaving your dps rotation is without a doubt the hardest class to learn. As a normal dps uou have to look at your dps and avoid damage. As a ret tho… nah you gotta watch everyone and know what to cast on allies at what time. There is massive button bloat but not on all classes

WoW was never “so good” to me. Oh it was good. The lag/rubberbanding that plagued other games of the time was negligible, the atmosphere was fresh, the fishing was enjoyable, but ultimately I chose to stay here because it was the only MMO at the time that looked destined to survive when all the alternatives were folding or sliding into monetization death spirals.

Im glad that there’s at least someone out there that enjoys that stuff, it’s just so boring and pointless to me after doing it once or twice. I do like dragonflying, and i dont mind the button bloat like some others do (thanks mmo mouse), but the world and playerbase itself just feels so dead to me

I will say that ive been playing HC for the past few weeks, and its the most fun ive had ever in my 15+ years of playing wow. So at least they got that going for them. Actually feels like an MMORPG.

Hi, I’m a mistweaver. I’m one of the healing classes with the least buttons, and I regularly use:
Faeline Stomp
Tiger Palm
Blackout Kick
Rising Sun Kick
Spinning Crane Kick
Touch of Death
Spear Hand Strike
Ring of Peace
Leg Sweep
Detox
Paralyze
Healing Elixir
Renewing Mist
Vivify
Enveloping Mist
Revival
Sheilun’s Gift
Roll
Transcendence and Transcendence Transfer
Dampen Harm
Diffuse Magic

Hello, I see you replied to the thread. None of those are part of a rotation, haha! You seem to be confusing buttons with rotation!

Thanks for your post and have a great day!

Healers don’t have a rotation. EVERYTHING is our rotation. Once you get a few more levels you’ll learn a bit more about how things work.

Hello, I see you replied to my post. Haha, if that was the case, why did you respond to someone asking for a 20 button ROTATION!?

Thanks for your post and have a great day!

Hello, I see you replied to my post. Haha, that’s not how it works! By that logic, using my mount would be considered part of my rotation, haha!

Thanks for your post and have a great day!

I think the success of wow initially was mostly because it was hyped up and for good reasons. Then of course the game was EASY to play by design. Anyone could pick it up and play even the end-game content. If you have content that everyone can do it makes for an overall better experience and happier players. There were people in raids back then that wouldn’t even get invited into a 5 man normal dungeon nowadays.

Hello, I see you replied to the thread. Haha, this is true! The old 40 mans were basically 6-10 competent players with the rest being there mostly for moral support, haha!

Thanks for your post and have a great day!

While I agree with the title, I don’t think you’ve got it right

Theoretically, they’re all optional. Don’t have to Ferocious Bite if I don’t want to. But there’s only 4 or 5 of them that aren’t routinely used in a dungeon run.

these people contradict themselves….

“My AoE stun and interrupt aren’t part of my rotation — I only use them at the moment the im supposed to use them”

Oh you mean like… at the right time in your rotation?

People need to stop being so antagonistic on the forums.

Like using your Blessing Of Freedom to make it to the boss faster for more dps uptime is 100% part of the rotation

All of your spells are situational, even the DPS ones, let’s be realistic

It’s so dumb to say that an interrupt is not a part of your rotation in a high key when the success or failure of the entire key can boil down to a missed interrupt or no defensives

(Thankfully this tier has no cast spamming bosses that require a — check it out — INTERRUPT ROTATION on a boss lol)

There’s literal addons for helping track interrupt rotations so you can be more effective at it. Stop being silly

Let’s just see you keep pressing your Judgement button when Dark Echoes is going off in Underrot

If it’s a part of my rotation, then when doing x → y → z, it’d be in a predictable point in that chain of events.

It’s not a part of my rotation

At the right time dependent on situations outside of my rotation, not within.

I’m being antagonistic because people whined about pruning and now they’re whining about “too many abilities” and I don’t want to see the classes I play dumbed down again.

Again contradicting yourself.

If the enemy is casting X, then use interrupt Y is not unpredictable… it’s very predictable….

In fact like you know before going into the pull that it’s going to happen and thus you plan your DPS abilities around that timing (if you’re good) —- especially if your class gains power from successful loss of control effects or using the PVP boots for primary stat increases

Furthermore as already mentioned, there are only priority lists you do not have a strict rotation anymore except in classic wow
