The game was five years old at that point, not bearing down on 19 years old
Its age
Its “rotations” back then didn’t matter and folks weren’t competent players at that point, more were starting to learn but folks were still able and regularly treated the game as “I press button”-braindead mode and were still able to outperform folks who knew what they were doing due to poor balancing
The bosses were a lot easier, but players were also incredibly bad as an average player
Slower combat only ever made the game a slog and forced folks to eat and drink more, something which largely disappeared in Wrath of the Lich King but did make levelling characters a whole lot more annoying and difficult due to that the scaling was non-existing
And the damage numbers were still high because for the time, we just measured things differently due to how young the game was and how none of the bosses or anything required intermissions to “reset” their hp yet
No class has a 20 button rotation, so that’s a lie
Players are better so bosses have stayed relevant by not being tank’n’spank bosses, this doesn’t make them “extremely hard”, so that’s a lie
You have never played a korean styled MMO in terms of combat, so this is another lie
And finally 100k dps is good dps … congratulations, still not “massive” though just relative to the content of the game; so one can still count this as a lie but more so an implicit one
To get folks like you to stop trolling?
Probably nothing sadly, especially due to you likely didn’t have 29 alts upvote this even if a fair few alts of yours probably did upvote it as this is a massive bad faith argument and bad take with lots and lots of lying
I read a thread like this, and a guy replied to play ret pala. It’s 4 or 5 buttons and basically the same rotation for st or aoe. Can macro your burst all together and all has the same cd.
I use a mouse with a 12 button key pad on the side. So 12 buttons plus 2 modifiers = 36 abilities, but I only have the muscle memory to use the first 28 of them effectively. Similar skills are in the same place for different characters. Interrupt is always five, defensives are always shift 1,2,3 etc.
Bro there are no dps specs that have a “rotation” that is AABCDAABCD ad infinitum
They have generic priority lists lol
Maybe in WoW classic you might have a rotation but not in retail
Healers and tanks definitely don’t have a rotation do you use your purifying brew or celestial brew at the same combo of abilities and timing? No of course not
So stop being ridiculous with keybinds not equaling rotation
Mages should 100% be weaving in their Barrier spell as a queued spell as well as their interrupt or dragons breath as part of their rotation
CC and defensives are absolutely critical part of rotation in M+ and raid so let’s be realistic
Just shut up and enjoy this garbage game until it dies. Bobby Kotick does not care about what you think will “save” WoW. You are wasting your life ‘caring’ about a product. This is like being upset your favorite shampoo changed it’s formula. Just get a new shampoo.
Pretty sure it was the way it innovated the genre and offered an improved experience over the games which came before. By attracting players who were already committed to the genre it enabled the game to have a growing community, some of which guilds still exist.
Thats nearly impossible to replicate as has been seen with classic. Classic is super beginner friendly but it offers nothing new so the population it attracts is very imbalanced as there is an even smaller minority willing to play with newbs and treat it as a new game. Retail however is beginner unfriendly (relative to classic) so the people who would be at least trying retail and struggling / slowly improving over expansions are instead playing classic.
Classic killed the community, it separated the populations that should be playing together and improving together all so they could give the kiddies their free passes. It didn’t hurt the upper tier of players in retail but the thing with that is that population has always been shrinking faster than its been growing, the only way blizz is helping that is by implementing more game modes like m+ and solo q pvp, but ironically its smaller minded which just points to the game becoming more individualistic, something counter to the initial “world”
