Developer Update: A Look at What’s Ahead for Wrath of the Lich King Classic

People are going to be in for a huge surprise if they think the LFG Tool improves socialization.

And what’s super amusing is that unlike LFD everyone will be forced to use the LFG Tool.

They’ve actually found a way to make doing dungeons even worse than in TBCC.

I’m just waiting for the ZOMG NO LFD crowd to realize this.

Considering it’s what a lot of players (casuals especially) think of when they think of Wrath…it’s going to be interesting.

But by then Blizz will have sold their Deluxe Editions and boosts so clearly they have no interest in the long-term health of the game.

Funny how many rose tinted glasses there are here…

DF quickly became a plaque on Wotlk. “GOGOGO TANK GO NOOB” became a thing overnight. Ninja looting constantly… As a tank I started tanking less dungeons not more.

Dungeon difficulty was way too low. It was a big flaw of Wotlk. One they tried to fix with Cata and overcorrected for in that expansion.

Naxx was alway way too easy. “But my guild beat it in 4.53 seconds in classic”… yeah and your guild had over a decade of number crunching giving you content that was trivial. Back an actual Vanilla AQ40/Naxx where very hard and anyone that pretends otherwise is full of it.

The ICC dungeons became a problem because they had a big step up in difficulty that many in DF couldn’t handle.

DF was also a part of the issue with Gearscore. No one grouped together on server anymore so no one knew who was good and who wasn’t for pugs. It was a quick and dirty (and very bad) way of judging people.

Blizzard is actually doing something right for a change.

LOL, ok. You realize you’re talking to people who did hundreds and hundreds of dungeons the last year of Wrath right? What you’re saying is nonsense. Did it people do dungeons as quickly as possible? Of course. You think that’s exclusive to dungeon finder? Are you nuts?

But in any event that’s what Wrath dungeons were. Wrath and easy dungeons…name a more iconic duo. That’s what players are going to expect, and also the accessibility of the tool. Which let’s it be about the experience and promotes some social interaction (though still not a lot just from a dungeon), and not some ever-increasing difficulty of the Mythic+ where it’s all business.

All of these changes are in direct opposition to how Wrath worked. That’s a simple fact.

Post like this always come from a level 10 lol

Wait until they sign up for many things and instantly get denied because of their item level. The only reason why some people get invited right now in TBC on classes that arent in high demand for content is because the players inviting them do not have access to the type of information that the LFD tool coming to Wrath is going to provide them.

Will be so funny watching those celebrating the upcoming LFG tool just because of their ignorant irrational view on RDF complaining about the LFG tool and it wont even take all that long for the complaints to start coming in

Make a LK server where LFD is in.
Everyone else can stay lmao.

Blizz you guys need to listen. I know you didn’t listen to Vanilla Classic until right at the end. But the way you’ve handled SoM Classic and ignored pretty much all the feedback for TBC does not give people much hope for WOTLK Classic, especially when you keep ignoring what most people want and making changes that literally no one asked for.

For a lot of people this will be the last expac they play through (again) for WoW, please don’t botch it like you have done with every other game on Battle Net.

This has been the go to in the Blizzard playbook for the past 10 years or so.

  • Ignore overwhelming feedback from the community.
  • Act on that feedback a year later when things have gone exactly as the community predicted they would, because “We’re listening”
  • Issue a statement about how things didn’t go as planned and that they’re going to be more open to feedback.
  • Do the same thing again next expansion.

Don’t forget outright lying about the fact they have a, “back up plan”.

At this point I’m almost convinced that those WotLK Classic devs are a group of spiteful employees who want to take revenge for all the bad stuff that has been going on in the company and do everything in their power to let WotLK fail, so Blizzard takes a hit.
I don’t have any other explanations for why they’re doing all of this.

I read their post and their pillars. To me it read like

Multiple paragraphs of ultimately empty meaning. We’re ruining wotlk classic. Multiple more paragraphs of meaningless words strung together.

There just hiding the ruining part in the fine print. People just want wotlk the way it was. I don’t get why that’s so hard for them to understand or do. Just leave it the way it was and everyone will be happy.

It’s that easy.

All you needed to do:

  • Dual spec at start of xpack
  • RDF at start of xpack
  • Don’t change anything else

If I wanted to play a game ran by clueless morons I would play retail

You can’t promote a friends and family atmosphere in a server with 25 thousand players. Hopefully this means you’re planning to tackle this mega server garbage.

I’m part of the so-called minority who truly enjoys Classic and I find the Dev post reassuring. I like the thoughts behind it : to make the game fun for everyone. Classic is not meant to be 100 % identical but a slight remake of the game, with some updates. Yes, it was a bit weird to get lvl 58 boost purchase and the introduction of the Phase-Hunter Mount (which I own and use on all my toons) but it is still TBC ! Same world, same quests….etc. Yes, some ppl bought a boost and didn’t know their class. A better idea would have been to sell an xp boost (200%) that lasts until you hit 58. This way, you have to learn your class.

I’ll finish by saying this : thank you Blizzard for bringing back the old world and while making some changes to it, you managed to keep it as fun as before. Complainers are quite vocal but I’d be curious if they truly represent the majority. I wouldn’t be surprised if the happy players like me were the silent majority.

Now let the bashing begins….1, 2, 3……GO !

Sadly the same people running retail are running classic.

Imagine being so incredibly stupid that you think that people are rushing through dungeons because of the LFG tool and not because it’s the end of the expansion and they’ve already done them 432980934823094823 times and outgear them by a factor of 4. Of course they’re rushing through them you nonce. They’re doing the same thing in TBC now.

Then imagine the developers being so incredibly !@#$ing stupid that they listen to these ignorant opinions instead of people who actually play the game.

There is simply nobody left at blizzard that isn’t either a complete moron or an abuser. Nobody else would stay for this !@#$show at the expense of their careers.

To me it read more like an SJW mission statement
