Here’s the thing. You don’t write down and publish a multipage treatise on your design philosophy if you only plan on making a couple changes and calling it good. There’s no need. This article clearly states at the end that they will be continuing to make whatever changes to the core game and loop as they feel like it. This is no longer Wrath Classic, it’s Wrath Re-forged.
Positivity and friendliness are not exclusive to people who have picked a night elf for a class that can only be a night elf
For the record I’ve had maybe tens of characters in my WoW career and this is literally the first night elf I’ve ever played and it’s only because I didn’t have a choice if I wanted to try druid.
I’d say your heuristics are flawed.
SUCH a female night elf. 5/5 stars on any RP server.
Hey I’ll take the compliments.
I think this is what they’re going to have to do, right? I can’t imagine that people are going to want to play WoD, Legion, BFA or Shadowlands classic at some point down the line.
Then again, I’ve never seen a company fumble the bag as much as Blizzard seems to, so who knows.
With the announcement that there would be no TBC era servers, for the foreseeable future, I used the $5 sale to activate all my Classic era clones.
If there will be no WotLK Classic era servers, then I’ll stay on Vanilla Classic era; but no one at Blizzard wants to act as a responsible business adult and be upfront about those plans.
Would be cool if you guys mentioned anything at all regarding Race Changes so we know how to plan our characters.
I think it’s great Blizzard is taking what many people say is the best version of balance and abilities and integrating the systems that have been a success in later versions of WoW. I understand many people don’t trust Blizzard to make this work well, but if we are going down this path, the worst feeling aspect of WoW is the Roster Boss, sitting people or not raiding due to absences. Why not just implement Flex Raiding. Many people unsub when their guild breaks down due to losing a few players. Solve that and make Raid Leaders Jobs easier!
The pillars sound like corporate cultese.
Vaguely benign sounding yet utilized as rationale for all types of specious thinking.
Except they haven’t. TBC classic has seen huge amounts of attrition such that Blizzard is mass shuttering servers. To the extent they’re hoping subs to come back for Wrath, they’re taking a big risk betting that the people who came back for WoW classic #nochanges would be just as happy to come back to Wrath #somechanges.
Rather than giving 10 man and 25 man the same loot I think it would be better to do flex raids, at least for Normal. After raiding in Classic and TBC Classic it can feel really bad if you have to miss a raid, feeling like you are screwing over your raid team. It can feel equally bad to have to have a deep bench preventing players that want to raid from doing so. Flex worked great in future iterations of the WoW with minimizing these issues and I think it could be a great addition to Wotlk Classic.
Except they haven’t
They have.

Because people are transferring to mega-realms.
The pillars mean everything because
They are useless politician talk which is nothing more then a way to talk a lot and baffle the listener without actually saying anything meaningful.
Mostly PR talk for simple minded people.
Ole Zip double talks more than most politicians (told a flat out lie and took 30 posts just get a I was mistaken out of them).
They are useless politician talk
What exactly is your definition of “politician talk”?
To me, that term seems to refer to a speech that is meant to cater to as many people as possible without making anyone mad.
All Blizz is doing here is telling you their design pillars. There’s no subjectivity here, they’re just telling you facts about their approach to design. It’s that simple. You can either like it or not but your approval is irrelevant.
Rather than giving 10 man and 25 man the same loot I think it would be better to do flex raids,
Well they said they were straight up against making 10 and 25 player raids share the same loot. Which is great, they need to leave that alone…
However, Flex raids where a warm welcome in retail. I just do not know how they would properly fit them into Wrath without a complete rework. Keeping in mind Beta has started and pre patch should be in about 8 weeks or so.
I think Flex is great, and if the Classic servers live beyond the 2-year cycle Blizzard may end having to bring Flex to the Classic games, but there is a nigh-zero chance of them making WotLK raids flex during its life-cycle.
Agreed, I like flex raids. But it would require a complete Wrath rework and there just isnt enough time before release to do so. They could do it for Cata, but they would need to start doing that soon as Wrath is released to make sure it isnt messed up.
F L E X is bis
I wish they had worked on that instead of a bunch of other changes
Except they haven’t.
Bloomsday is a troll and has been trolling people in this thread since post 1. Don’t feed it.
