Developer Update: A Look at What’s Ahead for Wrath of the Lich King Classic

This is actually one of the best posts in a long time. Good riddance to all the instant gratification andies. You won’t be missed.

I really dislike these changes, mainly the change to Naxx difficulty and the change to dungeon difficulty over time. This seasonal mindset when it comes to MMOs is ruining them. The whole point of an MMO is to acquire gear so you stomp on older content, not keep difficulty roughly the same throughout. That kills basic reward psychology and leaves you with a very flat experience. Please stop touching this renowned version of WoW.

This feels like “I’m the main character” syndrome. You didn’t like Diablo 3, therefore the game was bad and hated by everyone else, unless they are dumb.

Maybe Blizzard just isn’t the game studio for you.

What, in your opinion, is a gold standard game?

True! Retail is that way for lfd.

Do you think Shadowlands is a good game?

I haven’t played shadowlands

I fear that isn’t just a you thing I will be doing the same with keeping it in guild.

Bravo Blizz on that restricted interaction.
This philosphy and your pillars are only building barriers not bridges.

Leave Naxx and heroics dungeons alone. The challenge in Naxx was the plagued / black proto and undying / immortals. If you raise the challenge in the heroics you will kill the main feature of wrath the ability to play alts. With easy heroics and heirlooms anyone could just swap to another class to help with running all the 10mans to ensure everyone in the 25 man got the 10 man loot. You already tried raising the difficulty of heroics in CATA and killed it dont do it to wrath.

Well just so you know, it must be the best game ever launched on PC because you know -

" Blizzard Entertainment announced today that World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, Shadowlands, sold over 3.7 million copies on its launch day, November 23. That breaks the record for biggest launch day for any PC game , beating out the 3.5 million copies Blizzard’s own Diablo III managed back in 2012."

nope, lots of us hate easy boring content, buffs are fun and keep things fresh. I don’t want to be afking in my dungeons bc no CC is needed and everything dies within 10 seconds

Yeah, that’s seems to be it then. “Whatever I say is a success” is their only parameters for success. Unfortunately for them, that’s not how devs, studios, publishers, investors, the gaming audience, etc. judge success.

Because they have an addiction to gambling. Are you trying to say that the only reason players spend money in a video game is because they are addicted to it? You’re comparing video game addiction to a gambling addiction?

“such as 10-player and 25-player raids dropping the same items”
What.

Stop. Please just stop.

Edit: I reread, it says they aren’t doing this. Thank god.

Do you think studies havent shown that these are linked? LOL

Blooms, you’re not as intelligent as I was giving you credit for.

Link them. I’ll wait.

Financially it is a huge success (I wonder how much they got just from streamers “testing” the p2w of the game lol). Critically it’s a failure. Keeping in mind that critics are usually pandering to big game devs, they got a 61 from aggregate critic reviews (not great, but could be worse), but then user reviews has it as the lowest rated game in history (internet history) at a measly 0.3. That’s on metacritic.

Yeah, I loved Reaper of Souls. It objectively did not bomb.

Objectively, a game can’t have long term success without BOTH critical acclaim and financial success. DI has only financial, and it will not last, at least here in the west.

This was a huge detour, sorry.

He’s trolling. Don’t feed it.

Please stop bringing SoM stuff over to Classic. SoM is dead for a reason.

Go play retail for mythic + then, leave classic wrath as it is.

I never said it was, but Blizzard made very clear it was a value in Classic Era. Of course some tweaks did happen in Vanilla, but the community wanted and approved of most of those.

I’m not misrepresenting anything. It says right in their article that they approached Classic with #nochanges in mind.

I see no real need to re-assess another response when the requisites for dismantling your argument have already been satisfied.

And in December 2022, I expect the same number of copies of Dragonflight to be sold. Like the game or not, its successful. Imagine reading all the vitriol and hate towards blizzard on their forums, and the game does exceptionally well again.

You don’t understand, all of the opinions I read in my echo chambers say the game is terrible, the people on youtube said its terrible, and yet time and time again it is successful.
